I ONLY HAVE ONE CHANCE!

Only once shall I pass this way.

So, the deeds I do,

And the words I say,

Must be seasoned,

With God’s unconditional love!

I’m not my own, you see.

A dying Saviour purchased me,

As He hung between earth,

And Heaven above!

Do you wonder why I love Him so?

Well, Friend you have a right to know.

It’s because He loved me,

When I was yet in my sin.

Though I had cursed His Holy name,

To my heart’s door He came,

And when He knocked,

I opened up and let Him in!

Now, I walk the Narrow Way,

Protected night and day,

And guarded by His watchful eye!

Yes, I may have trials,

And I often go” the extra miles!”

But, God gives a peace,

That money can not buy!

ALL OF THIS AND HEAVEN TOO!

Dear Lord, I feel Your presence,

And in essence,

My soul is set aflame!

Gone are the cares of the day!

They’re immediately swept away,

By the whisper of Your name!

Toil and strife,

Those natural things in life,

I file away upon a shelf!

Oh, Master divine,

Thy will becomes mine,

As I forget about myself!

Your presence is so sweet,

And as victory replaces defeat,

Past failures are forgotten and left behind!

In the shadow of the cross,

Great gain replaces loss,

And joy, wonderful joy I find!

As I humbly bow,

I see through a glass darkly now.

But, one day through God’s amazing grace,

This feeling of ecstasy will never end!

For I’ll be forever with my Friend,

Where I shall see Him face to face!

A PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING

Lord, I thank you for my sight,
For the absence of darkness,
And the presence of light!
The many beautiful scenes I behold,
Are more precious than possessions of silver and gold!

I thank you Lord, for being able to hear,
Familiar sounds falling on my ears!
I hear a grandchild’s laughter,
And within my breast,
I realize just how much,
I am abundantly blessed!

The embrace of a loved one,
And the touch of a hand,
Strengthens, reassures, and makes me feel grand!
Ah yes, I thank You for being able to walk,
And oh what a blessing is the ability to talk!

Lord, let me convey to others the good news I’ve heard,
And otherwise learn to measure each word.
Thank You for each breath and each beat of my heart,
And yes, thank You for each functioning body part!

I am forever grateful for the plan of salvation,
And for being born in America,
A truly blessed nation!
Lord, I thank You for the things I possess!
I often take them for granted, I confess.

I am blessed being able to work each day,
To make money for the bills I have to pay.
I thank You for my family, dear Lord!
How sweetly we can dwell in one accord!

We can worship together,
For our goal is the same!
It is lifting up Your Holy and Righteous Name!
Finally Lord, I thank you for being my Friend,
And promising to be with me until the end!

WE’RE THE DOTSONS!

Just call us "Bob" and "Linda Lou,"
If that’s agreeable with you.
No Mr. or Mrs. is needed for my wife and me!
There’s no reason to "make a fuss!"

There’s nothing fancy about us.
We’re just as plain as plain can be.
We grew up eating fried taters, soup beans,
Pork, chicken, and wild greens!

Our milk came straight from the family cow!
Through the years we’ve never tried,
To act dignified.
And it’s a little to late to start now!

Yes, we’ve had some trials along the way,
Times when we had to kneel and pray,
"Father, help us to stand the test."
The storm clouds had gathered all around.

But, in God’s shelter we happily found,
A place of perfect peace and rest!
We’re now approaching our "autumn years."
It’s a time when nearly everybody fears,
That life will be a burden too hard to bear.
But, together we’ll make a stand,
Walking hand in hand,
Knowing we serve a God who is always there!

MOTHER

Many were the happy times I spent,

On Mother's knee!

There for comfort I often went.

How tender she would be!

Even now contentment I find,

Remembering those moments in my mind!

I'M CHRIST'S AMBASSADOR!

For as long as I may live,
Lord help me to give,
To you my very best.
Each and every day,
I must watch the words I say,
In order to stand the test.

As an ambassador at large,
I’ve been given the charge,
To go both far and near!
Having been adopted by the Heavenly King,
I will gladly bring,
A message of hope and cheer!

I can’t speak my own mind.
I must seek to find,
Ways to please Jesus who set me free!
Then, one day I’ll see His face,
In the beautiful place,
He has lovingly prepared for me!

Oh, life is hectic every day.
Sometimes I’m easy prey,
And in danger of being trapped in Satan’s snare.
But, if I constantly abide,
Close by the Saviour’s side,
I shall escape through the power of prayer!

GOD WROTE THE SONG

I could never see,
What God saw in me.
I felt so worthless and alone.

I had wasted many years,
And shed bitter tears,
While trying to make it on my own.

But then He came along,
And wrote my heart a song.
Its message I remember still.

It told about the flood,
Of Jesus’ precious cleansing blood,
That freely flows from Calvary’s hill!

God wrote the song,
And by His grace I’ve learned to sing it!
My voice I love to raise,
With an offering of praise!
In awe I gratefully bring it!

Friend, I’m glad to say,
Old things have passed away,
He gave me a brand new start,
When God wrote His song upon my heart!

God meets my needs every day,
As I walk the narrow way!
I have new friends by the score!

I’ve a family I love dear,
With a precious wife who’s always near!
How could I ask for more?

I’m on my way to Heaven Fair!
I have friends and family there,
Waiting by the crystal sea!

And in the presence of the King,
He may just let me sing,
The song God wrote for me!

IT’S LIKE DYNAMITE!

We love to visit Bond Holiness Church every time we can.
For it’s always a blessing to see Brother John and Sister Ann!
Many years the love of God between our people has flowed,
When the dear folks from Bond meet the folks from Dryden Road!

If you didn’t see us enter before it’s time for church to start.
Then when we start to worship, you couldn’t tell us apart!
Just being in one accord helps to lighten our load,
When the dear folks from Bond meet the folks from Dryden Road!

We were bone weary travelers from riding for miles.
But we sang, and danced, and shouted down the aisles!
For God always sends the Holy Ghost from His heavenly abode,
When the dear folks from Bond meet the folks from Dryden Road!

Ah, we have sweet memories of the good times we’ve had.
And when it’s time to part we are sure to feel sad.
But we’ll be forever grateful for the love they’ve always showed,
When the dear folks from Bond meet the folks from Dryden Road!

Some folks who say they’re Holiness have found a way that’s new!
They say it’s no longer necessary to worship the way we do.
But, with the Holy Ghost igniting things are bound to explode,
When the dear folks from Bond meet the folks from Dryden Road!

When on earth we travel that last weary mile,
We’ll sit down with Jesus and rest a little while.
There we’ll reap a joyful harvest from seeds of kindness we’ve sowed,
When the dear folks from Bond meet the folks from Dryden Road!

JESUS IS HIS NAME

I have a Friend who I hold dear.
He let's me know He's always near!
He whispers softly, "Do not fear."
Jesus is His name

When trouble is all around,
I set my sights on higher ground!
There a Shelter I have found!
Jesus is His name!

When this world becomes a rat race,
Causing tears of sorrow to run down my face,
I flee to The Rock and Hiding Place!
Jesus is His name!

Even when my skies are gray,
Who always hears me when I pray,
And creates for me a brighter day?
Jesus is His name!

Often I find communion sweet,
Just sitting at the Saviour's feet!
To my High Tower I retreat!
Jesus is His name!

My heart is light and my soul sings!
I'm being borne upward on angel wings,
To the presence of the King of Kings!
Jesus is His name!

One day by God's grace,
I will finish this earthly race.
Then, I'll meet my Maker face to face!
Jesus is His name!

THE GREATEST GIFT OF ALL
Christmas Verse

Christmas is so much more,
Than buying gifts in one’s favorite store,
At a gaily decorated shopping mall!
Christmas is a time of peace, joy, and love,
And remembering that God above,
Sent His only Son to save us all!
‘Tis all right to hang the holly,
And by all means be jolly!
We of all people certainly have every reason!
But, during the festivities and the fun,
Let’s not forget God’s precious Son!
For He is why we celebrate this season!
We must share with our children the wonderful story,
Of how the Lord of Glory,
Was born in a stable and laid in a lowly manger!
But, then let us proceed and tell,
Of his death, burial, and resurrection as well,
Lest the Saviour be to them just a stranger!
As we partake of the Christmas meal,
Deep within our hearts we should feel,
Gratitude for all the things God has done,
For a wealth of family and friends,
His love that never ends,
And the greatest Gift of all Jesus, God’s Son!

A HIDING PLACE

Some folks search for worldly fame.
Their wanderings never cease.
They have tried it all,
But they can’t recall,
Even one moment of inner peace.
But, I’ve found a place of quiet rest,
Far from toil and strife,
Where no angry billows ever crest,
Upon the sea of life!
In the cleft of the rock,
Is my hiding place!
There I have no cause to fear!
Sorrows are gone without a trace,
As God wipes away each tear!
Ah, when life’s storms are raging high,
And the ground is shaking ‘neath my feet,
I can feel my Saviour drawing nigh!
His presence is so sweet!

THIS STORM WILL NOT LAST

Oh, my soul be not sad.
Rejoice and be glad,
For great is God’s faithfulness to me!
This storm will not last,
And when it is past,
A beautiful rainbow I’ll see!

I’ve been here before,
Behind this closed door,
With no hope of relief in sight.
I was trying to cope,
When a small ray of hope,
Like a beacon pierced the night!

I heard Jesus’ voice,
Say, “My child rejoice!”
“Reach out and take hold of My hand!”
“There’s no need for despair.”
“Just remember I care,”
And your problems I understand!”

So, to Him I drew near,
And the path grew clear.
Together we walked through the fire!
Everything became all right,
And my heart felt so light,
As my soul soared higher and higher!

So, I’ll call out once more,
To the one I adore,
“Help me dear Jesus I pray.”
Then this storm shall cease,
And I will have peace,
As the darkness fades away!
