MY DEAR DEPARTED FRIENDS

My dear departed friends,
I miss you one and all.
At sundown when my day ends,
It seems I hear you call,
“Come and join us in a place,”
“Where tears will never flow!”
“‘Tis here the saved by grace,”
“All the joys of Heaven know!”

Oh Friends, please look for me,
For I’m still on my way!
Soon your precious faces I’ll see,
In that Land of Endless Day!
There will be no parting there,
And no dying on that shore!
We’ll be free from toil and care,
And live on forevermore!

BIBLE BILL

Most folks called him, "Ol' Bible Bill."
He lived in a shanty on top of a hill,
Overlooking the bustling town below.
Each morning you could find him,
On the village square,
Interacting with the people,
Who had gathered there.
Bill was a feller who was easy to get to know!

However folks didn't quite understand,
Why he always carried a Bible in his hand.
They figured "he was a few bricks,"
"Short of a load!"
Bill was anything but shy.
He'd look them right square in the eye,
And say, "Sinner you're on the wrong road."
Then he would continue to say,
"Jesus Christ is the Way,"
"The Truth and the Light!"
"If you're tired of that load of sin you bear,"
Just call out to Him in earnest prayer!"
"Then everything that's wrong will be right!"

People in general would pass on by,
Without giving a reply.
But, the gospel seed was planted anyway!
Bill had stood on this street corner for years,
Witnessing to folks and shedding tears,
Trying to get them to think about Judgment Day.

Bill and Sadie, his wife,
Had a rewarding life,
Though they weren't rich "by a country mile."
"The Lord has brought us a mighty long way,"
"To where we are today,"
Bill would say with a big old smile!

One morning it was ten below.
Yet Bill went walking through the snow,
On the way to his favorite place.
Snowflakes kept falling down,
And as he came to the outskirts of town,
Bill prayed, "Lord, please grant me grace."

He couldn't see for the blinding snow,
And though he heard the train whistle blow,
The sound came much too late.
When Bill left his Sadie that morning,
There was definitely no warning,
That this would be his tragic fate.

Sadie buried her precious Bill,
In the little cemetery on top of the hill,
Overlooking the town he loved so.
Now, each day she stands on the village square,
Witnessing to folks who have gathered there,
While Bill smiles down to earth below!

BECAUSE OF LOVE

In my mind I took a trip to Mt. Calvary,
To try and find the reason why,
A King would die for me.
Why would He leave a heavenly throne,
And come to suffer all alone?
The only reason I could find,
It was because of love!

I can never repay the debt of love I owe.
I can’t imagine the reason why,
My Lord would love me so!
Although love’s debt I can’t repay,
I vow to serve Him every day.
I have good reason now to say,
It is because of love!

Love caused the Saviour to bleed and die,
Unending love for poor lost sinners,
Such as you and I!
He willingly left the splendor of Heaven above,
To die for me and set me free.
It was because of love!
