Keeping Me From Experiencing God's Hand
1) You say, "It's not for me." What many
believe is that the supernatural power of the Spirit is
not available to them. But it is. When we
receive Jesus as our personal Savior, the Bible teaches
that we have received the Holy Spirit too. (Romans
8:9) You, however, are controlled not by the sinful
nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in
you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of
Christ, he does not belong to Christ. (Romans
8:15-17) For you did not receive a spirit that makes
you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of
sonship. And by him we cry, "Abba,
Father." 16 The Spirit himself testifies with our
spirit that we are God's children. 17 Now if we are
children, then we are heirs-heirs of God and co-heirs with
Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that
we may also share in his glory.
2) You say, "I can't count on God's
power." But we can trust God to come
through with His Power because He wants to release His
Power through us. To do extraordinary works for Him
we need more of this power. (Ephesians 1:19-21) and his
incomparably great power for us who believe. That
power is like the working of his mighty strength, 20 which
he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and
seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms,
(Ephesians 3:20-21) Now to him who is able to do
immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to
his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in
the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations,
for ever and ever! Amen.
3) You say, "I can't get more of God's
Power." Sure you can. God wants you to
ask for more of the Holy Spirit. Why, because when
He saturates your entire being with His presence and power
you can do more and better things. Read (Ephesians
1:19-20) again. (Ephesians 6:10-18) Finally, be
strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the
full armor of God so that you can take your stand against
the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against
flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the
authorities, against the powers of this dark world and
against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly
realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so
that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to
stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to
stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth
buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of
righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the
readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In
addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with
which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the
evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword
of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in
the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and
requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on
praying for all the saints.
4) You say, " I'm afraid of losing
control." Our fears of doing or saying strange
things when God releases His power through us are
groundless because we can have self-control, one of the
fruits of the Spirit. (1 Corinthians 14-33) For God is not
a God of disorder but of peace. (2 Corinthians 3:17)
Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the
Lord is, there is freedom. Also read

5) I can handle it on my own. Wrong! No matter how
smart, talented or good looking you are, you still need
God's power to do God's work. You can't do it on
your own and glorify Him. As John 15:5 says, apart
from Him I can nothing. (Zechariah 4:6) "This is the
word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: `Not by might nor by
power, but by my Spirit,' says the LORD Almighty.
