New Beginnings

When I think of new beginnings, I must also reflect
On the things of the past, my thanks to God not neglect.
For He gave me the choice to go His way or mine,
So when bad things happened I really could not whine.

God had a purpose and plan in mind from the start
All I needed to do was to listen and give Him my heart.
Yes, there have been disappointments and sadness, you see,
But God has always been in control, don’t you agree?

His hand was on me through the good times and the bad
And when I look back on them I can certainly be glad.
Now is the time to look ahead for more of God’s plan.
I must continue to seek His ways and not to those of man.

As I begin this New Year I plan to move ahead with the Lord.
He will give me all I desire if I continue to study His Word.
There is still much more to do and accomplish this coming year.
And God’s promise to me is that there will be nothing to fear.

He continues to open the doors that I must go through,
And I need to trust and obey Him in all that is new.
His plans are so perfect and made especially for me.
I look forward to this New Year with excitement and glee.
