Finding
Happiness
Many people spend their whole lives chasing
happiness and never catching it. To
find real happiness without looking for it
you need to decide how to live.
"Therefore,
since Christ suffered in his body, arm
yourselves also with the same attitude,
because he who has suffered in his body is
done with sin." (1 Peter
4:1).
First,
you must decide to say no to sin. Think
about your motive to sin. What are the
demands of your fallen nature and your
desire for personal happiness? Are you
influenced by your mode of living? I know
that I was at one time. I seemed to be
surrounded by "friends" who wanted
me to be unhappy along with them.
Secondly,
decide to say yes to God's will. "As a
result, he does not live the rest of his
earthly life for evil human desires, but
rather for the will of God. (1 Peter
4:2). Overcome your suspicions about God's
will. He promises that He will prosper
you and not harm you. He plans to give you
hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11).
There are many other promises that God has
for you, if you will study His word.
Overcome your struggle with God's
will. Don't run back to what is
familiar, like sin. Do walk forward in
faith. Paul tells us "we know
that in all things God works for the good of
those who love him, who have been called
according to his purpose." (Romans
8:28)
Decide who to heed "For you have spent
enough time in the past doing what
pagans choose to do-living in debauchery,
lust, drunkenness, orgies, carousing and
detestable idolatry. They think it strange
that you do not plunge with them into the
same flood of dissipation, and they heap
abuse on you." (1 Peter 4:3-4) Resist
the voice from within that calls you
back. Receive the voice from above
that lifts you up. "But they will have
to give account to him who is ready to judge
the living and the dead. (1 Peter 4:5).
Be done with sin and devote yourself to
God's will, then you will find true
happiness and you don't even have to go
looking for it.
Lovingly in Christ,
Carole
"The LORD is my strength and my shield;
my heart trusts in Him...My heart leaps for joy and I will give
thanks to Him in song" (Psalm28:7)
