Pastor James Pullings, Jr.

Pastor James Pullings, Jr. is the founder and pastor of Leviticus Church of God in Christ, Inc. (Leviticus Church). Leviticus church was founded and organized under the direction and leadership of Pastor James Pullings, Jr. on August 10, 1990. At that time the church was located at 107-06 Van Wyck Expressway – South Ozone Park, NY 11420. The first sermon preached at the old location was by Pastor Pullings, Jr. on September 2, 1990. His Text was “Jesus Has Given Us Authority”.

Pastor Pullings, Jr. was licensed as a Minister by the Reverend Dr. Thomas E. Burns, ordained an Elder by Bishop Frank O. White and installed as Pastor of Leviticus Church by Bishop Frank O. White on September 14, 1991.

In January 1994 the Lord gave Pastor James Pullings, Jr. a vision where he pictured a building that was open and full of light, with saints being seen from the highway praising the Lord and singing of His goodness. Because of God’s divine providence the church relocated from the 107-06 Van Wyck Expressway address to its current location – 114-12 Van Wyck Expressway South Ozone Park, NY 11420. Still under the leadership of Pastor James Pullings, Jr., the congregation grew and was successful in purchasing their current occupied building. The church is blessed with many parishioners and auxiliaries. God’s guidance and leadership directions were bestowed upon Pastor Pullings, Jr. to serve the entire community with a Food Program that has fed more than 150,000 community residents since its inception.

Pastor Pullings, Jr. was appointed to the position of Superintendent of the Azusa District of the Third Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of New York on December 11, 1999. He is currently Superintendent of the Burns Memorial District, First Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction COGIC where Bishop James Gaylord is Prelate.

Pastor James Pullings, Jr. is a beautiful, caring, loving, giving, diversified, God fearing, people oriented individual who has been instrumental in implementing various successful programs at Leviticus Church. Just to name a few of his accomplishments: attended Francis Lewis High School, a Veteran of the Viet Nam Era, attended and received qualifying degrees from Manhattan Community College, York College, Bethel Bible Institute, the O. M. Kelly Religious Institute, all while working as a U. S. Postal Supervisor. He is currently Commissioner of the Missions Department for the Church of God in Christ – Eastern New York Jurisdiction and Board Member of NYDIS (New York Disaster Interfaith Services). He has also worked very diligently in securing housing, employment, food, clothing and various other needed items for the Katrina People while they resided in hotels here in New York.

Pastor James Pullings, Jr. currently resides in the St. Albans section of Queens and is married to the lovely Esther Renee Burns-Pullings. They are the parents of five (5) beautiful children and many, many grandchildren.
