By Way of Mercy Street


She started down the narrow road,
The way seemed bright and fair.
As hand in hand they traveled on,
She walked with her Lord there.

But as she walked and night came on
She could not see her way.
The Lord said, “You must trust Me now,
Listen to what I say.”

“There are dangers on this journey,
But you must never fear.
For I know the way we're going,
And I will stay real near.”

“There are rocks that we must climb o'er,
But I will be your guide.
So just keep your hand in My hand
And stay close by My side.”

There are pits that we must watch for
That you may stumble in.
And this pathway that we travel
Takes pray'rful discipline.

“But I know the way we're going;
So oft I've walked this trail.
And you can place your trust in Me,
Have faith; I'll never fail.”

He lead her o'er each obstacle
Her journey to complete;
And they reached the Heav'nly City
By way of Mercy Street.
