A Shelter At All Times

A SHELTER AT ALL TIMES

(Psalm 61:1)-Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer. (2)-From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I. (3)-For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy. (4)-I will abide in thy tabernacle for ever: I will trust in the covert of thy wings. Selah.

Intro : We sing a great hymn : “A shelter in the time of storm”
- - Truely God is a Shelter At All Times

I. I AM SUPPORTED (Upheld) BY GOD
-I would fall and utterly fail without the constant upholding presence of God.
(Psalm 51:12)-Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.
(Uphold = To Sustain or Bear Up)

(Psalm 119:116)-Uphold me according unto thy word, that I may live: and let me not be ashamed of my hope. (117)-Hold thou me up, and I shall be safe: and I will have respect unto thy statutes continually.
- - How Firm a Foundation is Jesus Christ our Lord !!!

“On Christ the solid rock I stand all other ground is sinking sand”
“I dare not trust the sweetest frain but wholly lean on Jesus’ name”

II. I AM STRENGTHENED BY GOD
(Psalm 18:1)-To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David, the servant of the LORD, who spake unto the LORD the words of this song in the day that the LORD delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul: And he said, I will love thee, O LORD, my strength. (2)-The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.

(2 Cor. 12:7)-And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure. (8)-For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. (9)-And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. (10)-Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.

III. I AM SHELTERED (Defended) BY GOD
-Satan would destroy every child of God in a moment if he were allowed.
(Psalm 62:1)-Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from him cometh my salvation. (2)-He only is my rock and my salvation; he is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved.

(Psalm 17:8)-Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings,

IV. I AM SECURE IN CHRIST
(John 10:27)-My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: (28)-And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. (29)-My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.

(Rom. 8:38)-For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, (39)-Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
