(Isa 53:6)-All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

I. STRAYING IS SOMETHING THAT WE ALL DO
-I Have heard men say “I have never strayed from God”
“I have remained faithful for all the years I’ve been saved”

Isaiah says we’re like sheep. Jesus said the same thing.
(Mat 10:16)-Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.

PSALM 23 Tells us that we are as sheep. SHEEP FOLLOW !
THAT’S GOOD WHEN WE ARE FOLLOWING JESUS BUT SOMETIMES SOMETHING CAUSES US TO GO ASTRAY. WE FOLLOW THE WRONG THING.

DAVID STRAYED
(Psalm 119:176)-I have gone astray like a lost sheep; seek thy servant; for I do not forget thy commandments.
-HOW MANY OF YOU HAVE LIVED OUT THE STORY OF THE PRODIGAL & MANY TIMES OVER ?

II. WE STRAY WHEN WE GO OUR OWN WAY
-Living life for Jesus means doing what he would have us do. What the Spirit leads us to do.
THIS IS A STRUGGLE FOR ALL MEN - THERE ARE SO MANY DOING THEIR OWN THING
-FOLLOWING THE TRENDS, THE FADS OF THE WORLD

FOLKS ARE HERE ONE DAY AS WERE PAUL’S CO-LABORERS
(Col 4:14)-Luke, the beloved physician, and Demas, greet you.

AND THEY ARE GONE ASTRAY THE NEXT AFTER THE WORLD
(2 Tim 4:10)-For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia.

WE STRAY AND WE TURN OUR OWN WAY BUT THE GOOD NEWS FOR MAN IS THIS.......

III. THE LORD HATH LAID ON HIM THE INIQUITY OF US ALL
JESUS PAID FOR THE SIN OF STRAYING. HE’LL ALWAYS MAKE IT RIGHT WITH THE FATHER.
-I’M SO GLAD THAT WHEN WE STRAY JESUS COMES LOOKING
(Mat 18:12)-How think ye? if a man have an hundred sheep, and one of them be gone astray, doth he not leave the ninety and nine, and goeth into the mountains, and seeketh that which is gone astray? (13)-And if so be that he find it, verily I say unto you, he rejoiceth more of that sheep, than of the ninety and nine which went not astray.

When the Prodigal Son came home it didn’t shock his father. The father was looking far off.

GOD SHOULD HAVE GAVE UP ON ME A LONG TIME AGO BUT HE HASN’T !!
(Phil 1:6)-Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

“He’s still workin on me, to make me what I ought to be. It took him just a week to make the moon and stars, the sun & the earth & jupiter and Mars. How loving & patient he must be, He’s still workin on me”

(1 Pet 2:25)-For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.

GOD’S PLEA TODAY IS THIS - “COME BACK” “I’M WAITING FOR YOU” “I WILL FORGIVE YOU”
