WHAT WE BELIEVE AND TEACH

1. GOD- We believe that there is only One True, Loving, Holy, and Almighty Living God. He is the God of the Hebrew Bible. He alone is the Creator of all things(Gen.1:1) and He alone is before all things. He is Triune in his personage (John 1:1 ; John 10:30). We believe in God the Father, God the Son....Jesus Christ and God the Holy Spirit. We believe that to suppose that Jesus Christ is anything less than God is heresy. God is given many names in the scriptures. Those names in particular ways express different aspects of His holy attributes. Allah is not the name of the true God. While Jehovah is God's name it is not the exclusive name of God. We reject the idea of the multiplicity of Gods as well as the belief that men can call Him what they want but that all men are somehow worshipping the same God.

2. CHRISTIAN LOVE- We believe that Christians are known First and foremost by their Love for God, Secondly by their love for one another(brethren), and Thirdly by their love for lost sinners. Love is not secondary in the Christian heart and life but rather it is primary. The first Fruit of the Spirit of God in the life of a believer is Love and the greatest biblical commandment upon which all others hang is to "Love the Lord thy God", the second is like unto it, to "Love thy Neighbour as thyself".

3. THE BIBLE- Like our Baptist forfathers of old we believe that the bible(KJV) is the Inspired Word of God ! It is our sole rule of Faith and Practice(2 Tim. 3:16). We recognize no other binding creed. We believe that God himself has preserved his word for our generation(Mat. 24:35). The King James Bible is used in every teaching and preaching service at First Baptist Church.

4. HEAVEN AND HELL- We believe in both as being literal places as depicted in the old and new testament scriptures. The souls of the finally unrepentant(unbelievers) will spend eternity in the place called Hell(Luke 16:19-23) // 'lake of fire'(Rev. 20:11-15) and that the children of God....those who have placed their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ for personal salvation, will live with the Lord in Heaven(John 14:1-4).

5. SALVATION- That Salvation is Wholly by God's Grace and Through Faith without any mixture of works(Ephesians 2:8-9). That Jesus alone is the "way, the truth and the life". Salvation is not so much by a plan, as it is by a man - - The Lord Jesus Christ. Man cannot be saved aside from the seed of the word of God(1 Pet.1:23) and the convicting drawing power of the Holy Spirit(John 6:44). The gospel must be preached or shared with an individual(Rom. 10:17) and the Holy Spirit must convict and draw that individual to Faith and Repentance. We are neither Fatalistic nor Free-Will in our view of salvation. Salvation is not the result of the will of man but of the will of God. We do not believe in a Limited Atonement or Irresistable Grace. Every lost sinner is considered a prospect for Saving Grace at First Baptist Church. God's power to save sinners is not limited. We also reject modern tactics of evangelism which have become known as "easy believism". Sinners are not won by men's methods and means but rather by biblical preaching and inward conviction. We believe in the biblical doctrine of repentance.

6. THE CHURCH- We believe that the Lord's church is a Local, Visible, Autonomous, Independant assembly of baptized believers. We believe in a LOCAL church, in that an assembly of believers gathers together in one place to worship. We believe that the Church is Visible in her regular assembly in that the church is always seen. While we recognize that every true believer is a part of the family of God as God is their Father.......We do not believe in a Universal Invisible Mystical Church body consisting of all believers. The Lord's church is always a local assembly of baptized believers, covenanted together for the purpose of carrying out the great commission and administering of the ordinances of baptism and the Lord's Supper. Scriptural baptism is absolutely prerequisite to church membership. This church is a completely Independant and autonomous body having as her only head, the Lord Jesus Christ. We are Missionary Baptists. We are Landmark Baptists. First Baptist Church is not affilliated with any association or convention of churches. We believe that true churches consisting of baptized believers have existed in every age since the time of Christ and the apostles and that the Lord's true church existed aside from the Roman state church. The true church did not proceed from the Roman Catholic church.

7. ORDINANCES- We believe that there are two ordinances being administered by the local church today. They are 1-Baptism and 2-The Lord's Supper. Both are to be administered under the authority of the Lord's Local Church. The proper candidate for baptism is a true repentant believer in Christ and the proper mode is complete immersion into water. Baptism is absolutely prerequisite to local church membership. We reject infant baptism as well as the modes of sprinkling and pouring. Those who have received false baptism and come to our assembly expressing faith and a desire to unite with us must submit to scriptural water baptism to be admitted to our church membership. We believe that the Lord's supper is restricted to the Local Church Membership(Closed Communion).

8. MISSIONS- We believe that all mission work must be done through a local church assembly or under the authority of a New Testament church. We support local church missionaries and local church ministries in all parts of the world. The great commission was given to the local church to be fulfilled beginning at Jerusalem(Acts 1:8). We believe in supporting missions in all parts of the world beginning at home. For information on our missions program you can follow the link from our main page to our Missions page.

9. SEPARATION- We believe that God's children ought to separate themselves from this world in dress, conversation, conduct, and activity. We do not believe in isolating ourselves from sinners. We will strive to be salt and light to this world. But we are not to be conformed to this world's image but rather to Christ's.

10. LAST THINGS- We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ will return for His living saints in these last times. This event has become to be known as the Rapture. .......Being Updated !!!!!

This doctrinal statement is not presented here for the purpose of strife or controversy. These are simply some of our dearly held doctrinal beliefs with which some, who when considering our assembly, would be concerned with.

We agree to disagree and not be disagreeable. Not all of us are going to agree on everything so "Let God be true and every man a liar". God bless you and thanks for looking here.
