Church Membership at First Baptist Church Wyoming IL!

If you have any questions about what is presented here, please contact Pastor Hamilton with your questions at kjv@juno.com

A Regenerate Membership
Our local church is made up of a saved membership. We openly confess our faith in Christ alone, and will freely testify of our faith in him alone, for personal salvation. Only those who are willing to confess openly, the Lord Jesus Christ, will be considered for church membership. If you have no personal testimony, of your conversion experience, you will not be considered for membership.

Acts 2:47-....And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

A Baptized Membership
We insist on water baptism as a pre-requisite for identification with this local body. Just as the new spiritual-birth places sinners into Christ, so the pictorial ordinance of baptism, publicly identifies the convert with the visible body in this age, the local church. Baptism is always by complete immersion in water, upon local church authority, and is only administered to proper candidates(regenerate).

If you have been saved, you may submit yourself to the church for baptism and membership. Or, if you have been saved and received water baptism, at another scriptural church, you may be received for membership upon that basis.

Acts 2:41-Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.

What Do You Believe?
Does doctrine matter to you? Because it does to us. The word doctrine, always appears in a positive light, in the new testament, and simply means teaching. To say that doctrine doesn't matter, is to say that, ignorance is bliss. The bible is a doctrinal book. Jesus preached sound doctrine and his doctrine, astonished men, who heard him. We are not all in exact agreement, on every aspect of scripture, but we are in such agreement, that it is no accident that we at First Baptist, are in the same local congregation. We invite you to investigate our doctrine. You should be in Theological agreement with the church congregation, where you are a member. You may read portions of our beliefs on this website and you are welcome to visit any of our services as well as direct questions to our pastor.

A Few Questions and Comments
Most Christian people are looking for a church to attend, rather than one to join. They want to go, but not really get involved too deeply. The problem is that they often don't know this themselves. The idea is this, that it would be good to have my name on a church roll. If you do not plan to faithfully attend, serve within, support financially, and seek to encourage and increase the church body in every way, you should not consider joining First Baptist Church.

Gal.6:2-Bear ye one anothers burdens and so fulfil the law of Christ.

If you believe that Sunday morning is the only important service at church, you are sadly mistaken. Do you want to be a part of something special? We are a close-knit church family as we believe God has intended his churches to be. We meet together, fellowship together, pray together, worship together, and we love being together on Sunday and Wednesday nights as much as we do on Sunday mornings.

Heb 10:25-Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

We Have Covenanted Ourselves Together as One Body in Christ

---THE BAPTIST CHURCH COVENANT---

Please read through this covenant and consider what you will enter into......

-Having been led, as we believe by the Spirit of God, to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Saviour and, on the profession of our faith, having been baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, we do now, in the presence of God, and this assembly, most solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with one another as one body in Christ.

-We engage, therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit to walk together in Christian love; to strive for the advancement of this church, in knowledge. holiness. and comfort: to promote its prosperity and spirituality; to sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline, and doctrines; to contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the church, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the gospel through all nations.

-We also engage to maintain family and secret devotions; to religiously educate our children; to seek tbe salvation of our kindred and acquaintances; to walk circumspectly in the world; to be just in our dealings, faithful in our engagements, and exemplary in our deportment; to avoid all tattling, backbiting, and excessive anger; to abstain from the sale of, and use of, intoxicating drinks as a beverage; to be zealous in our efforts to advance the kingdom of our Saviour.

-We further engage to watch over one another in brotherly love; to remember one another in prayer; to aid one another in sickness and distress; to cultivate Christian sympathy in feeling and Christian courtesy in speech; to be slow to take offense, but always ready for reconciliation and mindful of the rules of our Saviour to secure it without delay.

-We moreover engage that when we remove from this place we will, as soon as possible, unite with some other church where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God's Word.
