I Got a Call I got a call the other day It was a call from Mommy My mommy is so far away Helping with something called Tsunami She is in the military Sometimes she goes far away But this time my country called her To help in a devastated place I heard the ocean rocked and roared And walls of water rose The noise was loud and deafening As it slammed hard against the shores They said thousands were dying everywhere As it slammed upon the beaches It splashed and tore, the waters bore All through some countries reaches From Thailand, Indonesia, and even Sri Lanka In Africa, In India and countries I don't know It crashed with such a mighty force Buried thousands as it rolled Mommy said to say a prayer That all the little boys and girls Would find their moms and dads In this mess in that far away world I heard our Mr. President, say today That America is sending aid Think I will break my piggy bank And send the dimes and pennies I saved It would buy a toy I think Or a little boy some food It might buy a mommy or daddy I think that would be good. Mommy said she loves me And we would celebrate My birthday when she comes back home That it won't be too late But I don't want no presents now I still have Christmas gifts I want to share my toys and clothes With the boys and girls that lived I really hope my Mommy helps Those people very much Though I miss my mommy right now I remember my mommy's touch So won't you join me in my prayers That these countries get better soon I have my Daddy and God to watch me I see God in the silvery moon Jene' Lind Jan. 5, 05   I am.... only one but still I am one.
