The Cross Of Crucifixion
Where did the material come from that fashioned
The cross that was made from a tree?
Some say it came from an acorn
And that could very well be.
It was a dogwood as legend goes.
It had to have height as we all know.
And be sturdy and strong.
Jesus carried it on His shoulders
After He had been beaten and mocked.
He fell under the load,
because it was so heavy and long.
He carried it for you and me.
He had done no wrong.
He had been horribly abused that day.
Which caused His physical and
mental condition to be weakened.
He prayed to The Father,
"God help me please in Your will to stay!"
This cross I must bear.
The sins of man kind I will take with me there.
A young man was chosen, Simon was his name.
To carry the cross to the place Jesus was slain.
It is call Golgotha's Hill.
That is where His life's blood was spilled.
He was not forced to the ground.
He knew He was in His Father's will.
So that a promise could be fulfilled.
He paid a debt that day that was yours' and mine.
After He prayed "Father not my will but Thine."
Before the soldiers raised the cross
they drove nails in His hands and feet.
He suffered pain and death for you and me,
so we would not be lost.
He had taken thirty nine stripes
for the healing of our minds, body and soul.
This promise is for you and me.
He doesn't want anyone left out of the fold.
His words "By His stripes Ye were healed."
The healing of every sickness
and disease that day were sealed.
The soldiers picked The cross up in the air.
Jesus suffered unmerciful pain our sins to bear.
"I thirst!" He cried.
A sponge was dipped in vinegar and Gall,
put on a hyssop stick and raised to Him.
"You don't deserve water!" they said
"Drink this instead."
Jesus did not say a word,
Just turned His head.
"IT IS FINISHED!!" Jesus cried
Then He bowed His head and died.
This would be a sad story if it were the end.
But on the third day He arose to live again.
How the tree the cross was made from got its' start.
I have no idea.
I'm just thankful it made a change in my heart.
I want to live in the shadow of The Cross.
And remember that is where Jesus gave His life,
So that none would be lost.
