Christmas
is around the corner!!! Can you believe it??!!?? It seems
like the turn of the millenium was just a few months ago....and
now we're going to be entering a NEW YEAR in just a few
months! WOW!
This
tutorial is to teach you to to make pine branches. You'll
be tubing them at the end so you can say you made your
own! Hopefully, if I taught you correctly, these will
look close to being real. *grin* You'll be making 4 different
branches that you'll tube for later use! =)
So,
if you're ready to get to it....flex those finger muscles.
Let's
do this!
REMEMBER
TO SAVE OFTEN!!!
*Note*:
I made this graphic in PSP7, but there shouldn't be too
much of a problem with doing it in PSP6. I will show you
TWO Steps, but you'll only need to repeat the second step
a few more times.
Tools
you'll need for this tut:
PSP7:
Found HERE
Step 1:
Open a new image 500 x 500 Transparent Image
Go to View > Click on Grid
Go to View > This time click on Change Grid & Guide Properties
Horizontal and vertical spacing should be at 250 each
...

You should now have a black line that runs both ACROSS
& DOWN your screen.
Change your foreground to #5D381D and then your background
to #008000 BUT put your background on NULL for now.
Click
:
freehand, width 3, Solid Line, ONLY antialias checked
In each of the squares, use your brown to make branches.
(See below)

Step
2:
Add A New Layer
Change your brown (background now) to NULL, and your
foreground (NULL now) to green.Click the little arrow
on your foreground and background colors to bring the
green to the foreground.

In each of the squares, draw pine needles. Not too many
on the first go round.

Go to Effects > 3D Effects > Inner Bevel:

Go to Effects > 3D Effects > Drop Shadow: V/H: 0,
Opacity: 100, Blur: 1.5, Shadow: Black
Repeat STEP 2 4 -5 more times depending
on what you like. You can make the branches as sparse
or as full as you want. Don't worry about overlapping...you
SHOULD overlap. *grin* And don't worry if your needles
aren't straight!
When done repeating Step 2 as many times as you want,
MERGE VISIBLE, then Duplicate your layer
If your duplicate layer is not there already, bring
it to the bottom
Selections > Select All > Selections > Float
Flood fill with black
Click your deformation tool and move the "black" layer slightly to the left or right
* You don't want it showing TOO much. It's there more
to add depth than to be a shadow. If you're not sure
what I mean...go back to the top of the page and use
that graphic as an example.
Lower opacity to about 55%
TUBING
Go to FILE > EXPORT > PICTURE TUBE
A Window will come up. Put in the following information:

That's it! =) All Done! I hope this
was easy and fun to do!
