Scriptures Revealing Evils Of The Homosexual Lifestyle

This study is in response to an e-mail request for Scriptures to show what is wrong with the homosexual lifestyle.  Many do not see this as a sin in today's society and fail to discern the error of their ways.  Many refer to this as an 'alternative lifestyle' but this is referred to by God as "unnatural affection." 

We see in Scripture there is no alternative to the plan of God which was for male and female to unite in marriage, be fruitful and multiply.   This was his plan from the very beginning which was perverted by the wickedness of men's hearts.  God's plan has never changed and He still requires holy living.   Fornication and adultery are also sinful as God is a holy God and created man to be holy.  

I did not have a devotional on this subject but shared these Scriptures and thoughts to show homosexuality is sin and an abomination to the Lord. When one reads the Word of God, there can be no doubt as it is very plain how God looks at this according to His Word.  He hates the sin but loves the sinner, and desires they repent and turn from their way of living.  One cannot live this lifestyle and call themselves a Christian, (Christ like), as it is opposite of all that Christ taught and the purpose for which he created mankind.  

 In the Bible the sin and sinful lifestyle of homosexuals was referred to as "Sodomites" in the Old Testament.  The City of Sodom was destroyed because of this sin.  The practice of sin with the same sex was against God's laws in the Bible and still is today.  There were many words for it including sodomites, lesbianism, catamite (a man who submits his body to unnatural lewdness as referenced also in Joel 3: 3) and uncleanness.  It is referred to as 'unnatural affection', effeminate, vile affections, self-abusers, and an error that damns the soul.  God created "male & female" as his plan to unite in marriage, which is natural affection.

This sin falls into one of the categories which the Bible says will not be saved or inherit the kingdom of God as in 1 Cor. 6: 9.  Romans 1: 26-28 also speaks of these sins and says those that do such things receive in themselves that recompense of their error.  The vile affections spoken of are passions of infamy and shame and are apostasy. 

2 Peter 2: 10 refers to uncleanness also as to these sins.  Those who do such things are called "unclean" and one must be 'cleansed and holy' to be joined to Christ as a Christian, and enter into His Kingdom.

The first mention I see in reference to this sin is in Gen. 13: 13 which says the men of Sodom were "wicked and sinners" before the Lord exceedingly.  This sin is one that God cannot and will not tolerate.  He sent judgment upon these sodomite cities as a lesson to others who might follow in their sin, and condemned many people afterward who did so.  Destruction and hell were promised to those who followed this lifestyle as the reward of such, as in other Scriptures and also in Jude.  This sin was also mentioned in Gibeah.

This sin was one of the 8 sins of Judah mentioned. Those in the Old Testament as in the Book of Kings were connected with the Asherah, an idol which was worshipped instead of the Lord God and was to be destroyed.

We notice in Rev. 11: 8,  the bodies of the two witnesses, (olive trees), shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.  Jerusalem was called this because of becoming the headquarters of homosexuals and whoredoms (sex & religious perversions), during the last   3 1/2 years the Gentiles control the City.  This tells us that sex and religious perversions will be predominant sins ending this age as referenced in Matt. 24: 37-39; and Luke 17: 26-30, which as to history refers to these sins also.

We see the New Age being practiced and ushered in by those who believe in these "rights", but according to God there can be no rights when against His Righteous Laws. 

What the New Age and society refers to as "gay rights" cannot be "right" because they oppose the righteousness of God.  We should pray for our society and even the lawmakers as our Nation and many Nations have strayed from God's ways and laws for his people.

God also refers to those who practice these sins in Rev. 22: 15.  These classes of people will not enter into God's Kingdom.  Another interesting fact:  If we also look up the word "sorceries"  from same verse in Greek commentary, it is "pharmakos" and comes from #5332 in Strong's Greek Concordance.    This definition says " pharmakeus or "pharmakon", drug, spell-giving potion,; a druggist, "(pharmacist or poisoner, by extension a magician or sorcerer)".   This Scripture and definition also reveals to us the end times and what we are even seeing now.  The drug culture with the many "mind altering drugs" has become a money making industry, and the illegal use and manufacture of the same is seen everywhere in our society. This will be prevalent and un - repented of at the coming of the Lord, which is referred to as "sorcery" here also. 

If God's people will humble themselves and pray, seek his face, and turn from their wicked ways; He will hear from heaven, forgive sins and heal this land.  This is a promise made in his word in 2 Chronicles 7: 14.   Christians must have humble hearts and intercede in behalf of the evils which we see so prevalent in this World.  God loves the sinner but he hates the sin.  It is not his will that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.  May the Body of Christ on Earth arise in the power given and proclaim that "Jesus is Lord" to the glory of God the Father.  It is our prayer that sin will be called as such and not be condoned as the World looks upon it.  It is our responsibility as God's children and followers to speak up against these evils and pray for a return to righteousness and holy living in our World today.
