God is a God of diversity and
created man to be pleasing to Him.
We have a description in the Book of Psalms as
to how God chose to create new life within the
womb. Psalms 139: 15-16 explains a
mystery which some do not understand.
"
My substance was
not hid from thee, when I was made in secret,
and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of
the earth." Thine eyes did see my
substance, yet being imperfect; and in thy
book all my members were written, which in
continuance were fashioned when as yet there
was none of them."
The womb of the mother here is referred
to here in Hebrew as "
the
lowest parts of the earth"
or
as "the center of the human body"
where the child is formed. The writer of
the Psalms understood we all originated from
Adam who was from "the dust of the
Earth". This "dust
of the earth" comes in many colors as God
alone has the ability to create or make
it. When we do a word study on these
Scriptures we find beautiful truths explained
to us.
Substance
in
this first verse of Scripture in Hebrew
{otsem}
means, "frame
of bones, the skeleton and the external
covering of flesh over all the tendons,
arteries, nerves, veins and skin which was
curiously wrought.
The word "curiously
wrought" in Hebrew is "raqam"
and means to "diversify with colors, to
embroider, fabricate; make curious work.
It is translated "curiously wrought in
this Scripture and is as the embroiderer would
make beautiful needlework with all the
different colors of thread.
If
you have ever looked at the back of a piece of
needlework in progress, it seems all entangled
and is not very pretty from this side or until
completed when it takes on new meaning.
This is the same way with a human body.
While it is unformed and in the process of
development, it is known to God from the
moment of conception. He alone can weave
and design the members of a human body in such
intricate fashion to work perfectly together
with blood being the substance which keeps
everything flowing together in harmony as it
circulates throughout all the
organs. (His blood is what keeps
the Body of Christ in harmony and love is to
the Church what blood is to the human body).
This explanation also is a picture of
the Church or Body of Christ. It
is woven together of every tribe and Nation,
color or creed, who accept Christ and are born
of God. To Him it is beautiful and is
not what it will be, but is still "in the
making" as it strives together for
maturity and new growth toward what it will
become.
In verse 16 of this same Chapter (Psalms
139), we see the same word "substance"
in Hebrew the meaning is "golem",
and means "a wrapped-up and unformed
mass, as the embryo being imperfect or not
fully developed. It is not
the same word here as used in the previous
verse, "otsem".
Here it refers to
the embryo stage of growth, from the
fertilized egg until organs develop so a child
can live independently outside the womb of the
Mother. In this stage it is
stated that all
the human members are contained or written in
the Book of God. This tells us the truth
that from the moment of conception, a child
yet imperfect; is recognized and known by God
as a person and living soul which is not
to be
destroyed. Even
the undeveloped members of a body are written
in God's Book. Every hair of our head is
numbered by God according to His Word.
Life is precious
in any stage of development and is considered
a "human being" regardless of those
who oppose and change God's laws.
We are told in this Chapter and
Scriptures, if we "weighed
all these facts about the conception and
forming of human life, it would be heavier
than the sands of the sea." These
are precious
thoughts and meant to be
recognized and obeyed as to value put on life
from the very moment of conception. Each
"substance" even before it is fully
formed belongs to the Lord and life is given
and possible by God alone.
We can see from these Scriptures above
and comparison in "type and shadow"
facts about the Body of Christ, his Church on
Earth. The members which are considered
"uncomely" are to be given more
honor. Without the internal members of
the body functioning properly, the Body could
not function at all. These uncomely
members or internal organs are not very lovely
to look upon, but without these,
our human bodies would cease to be.
It is the same way in the
Church. There are those who are not on
the front lines in the Church as the
"mouth, eye, hand, which are not visible;
but are still of the utmost importance.
Many are the aged Grandmothers who are prayer
warriors. These do not appear important
to many, but are necessary for the Body to
function as a whole or unit as God
intends. There must be a channel of
prayer to God as prayer is like the cord
attaching the body to the Giver of Life.
Only through prayer and communion with God,
intercessions and supplications; can we grow
and see new life brought forth for Christ.
