                                  LIFE'S LESSONS

"I will praise you with an upright heart
as I learn your righteous laws."
                                     Psalm 119: 7 NIV

Each one of us are enrolled in a school which is full time called "Life."  Although it may seem tough at times, each day of our lives we have opportunities to learn lessons. We may think some of the lessons are not important and choose to ignore them, or we may like the lessons and learn from them. The choice is ours to make and our decisions at times will determine our future success or failure.  The very lessons we choose to ignore may be the door which holds the answers to our problems in life or the wisdom that will help us make it through victoriously.

One important point we see about life's lessons is they are repeated until we learn them.   Life has a way of presenting us the same lessons until we receive truths and apply them. Some lessons take longer than others for us to learn and each day of our lives we are growing in grace as we learn more about Jesus. If we depend on Christ for everything, we can endure everything.

Every day that we live we will encounter new challenges and opportunities.  There will be sorrow along the way but out of the tears can come triumph as we learn many lessons. We cannot go on successfully to the next lesson until we have learned the one at hand which the Lord leads us through. We cannot choose the lessons we prefer but must walk through each one with an open mind and willing heart.

It has been said that "if we love or hate something in another person's life, it is only a reflection of something that is in our own lives."  This is so true, and we must seek to see the best in others who are growing in God's grace to become all the Lord would have them to be.   We must also seek to learn through all the lessons the Lord will show us. He will take what may be meant for evil and turn it around for good as he did for Joseph. He taught Joseph that regardless of how a situation may look, we walk by faith and not by sight.  He carried him from the 'pit to the palace' as he trusted in the faithfulness of God.  We have one who is also with us and will bring us into his desired rest for our lives.

May we willingly accept the lessons life gives us and learn to go forward in his grace.   Many times He will lead us in paths as He did Abraham. He went out not knowing what was ahead, but went by faith and the Lord led him each step. We are only passing through this world and once a day has passed, we can never recall it.  The mistakes and failures of the past can never be undone, but if our future is tied securely to Jesus, we will be willing to let Him show us how to prevent making the same mistakes. We have victory in our salvation as we learn from God's Word and apply it to all the lessons of life. God is greater than any problem and as we face the uncertainty of tomorrow, we have the certainty of the One who is with us each day.

We serve a God who can give us the same joy and peace he gave Daniel in the Lion's den.  He can give assurance to us as he gave the three Hebrew children in the fiery furnace, Joseph when he was betrayed by his brothers, and all the Saints of God who overcame by God's grace.  We have been given greater grace than all of the problems we see in the human race. We have already overcome many dangers, toils, and snares and by his marvelous grace, He will surely lead us safely home. God's lessons in life are the greatest lessons of all!

                                         LEARNING IN LIFE

All through this life we are enrolled in a School
If we look to Jesus, we learn we should live by the golden rule.
There are beautiful words of life written by our Savior,
We can live in happiness within his love and favor.

The things we all must walk through on the way to heaven's shores
Should teach us to depend on God and know Jesus is the "door."
There is only one way that leads to eternal life,
There are many roads but only one where there will be no pain or strife.

The way is straight and narrow leading to our eternal home
We shall live with Him forever and nevermore shall roam,
We must learn the lessons well which our Savior teaches us each day,
If we seek his wisdom, He will guide us safely all along life's way.
