Your works shall praise you
O Lord my King,
I will lift my heart and voice,
In you, I will rejoice and sing.

Thy kingdom is everlasting
Your dominion endures forever,
You will never leave us,
You will help us in every endeavor.

You uphold all that fall,
You raise up all that be bowed down,
The eyes of all wait upon thee,
We rejoice in the joyful sound.

You are righteous in all your ways
You are holy in every work,
To all who call unto you,
You draw nigh and save on earth.

We will bless your holy name forever
We shall speak praises of you O Lord,
You will fulfill the desire of all who fear you,
One day you shall bring them into a heavenly reward.

"I stretch forth my hands unto thee; my soul
thirsteth after thee, as a thirsty land. Selah."
Psalm 143: 6

David the Psalmist desired more of the Lord each day.  It made no difference if He was 'blessed or stressed,' he still recognized his need for more of God.  We also should desire more of God each day and to learn of Him as we grow in grace. We have the Greatest Teacher in the Universe who is always willing to show us His ways as we look to Him. His love is the greatest of all.

In this Psalm, David declared that He stretched forth his hands to God. This is a sign of surrender or submission, as dependant upon God and also of worship unto Him. His soul thirsted after God and he described this thirst as being like a dry and thirsty land in need of rain.

If we have ever seen a dry and parched land in need of water and then see the rains descend on it, we notice the land takes in all the water it receives. Our soul can also desire the Lord and receive all of Him that we desire if we truly want his blessings. He is always there and we can flee to Him as David in the Psalms.   He was said to be a man after God's own heart, and those who seek the Lord are welcomed into his presence. God will meet a hungry soul as they draw nigh unto Him. He pours out from on high His spiritual rains and blesses us abundantly when we seek Him in spirit and in truth.

We have many reasons to praise the Lord. He is our goodness, our fortress, high tower, our deliverer, and shield. We can say as the Psalmist David..."In Him alone I trust."

With Jesus as our Lord, we have a promise of happiness.  Psalm 144: 15 tells us, "happy is that people, whose God is the Lord."  Thanks unto the one who provided a way of salvation and delivered us from defeat and depths of darkness into his marvelous light of love. He will abide with us forever, is gracious, full of compassion, slow to anger, and of great mercy.

The Lord is good to all, and his tender mercies are over all his works.  All thy works shall praise thee O Lord; and thy saints shall bless thee.  (Psalm 145: 9: 10.) His mercy and grace still amazes us as we stand in "awe" of our wonderful Lord. May He be glorified and given all honor due his holy name.
