Your word is a lamp to my feet
and a light for my path.
Psalm 119:105
COULD YOU SEND YOUR CHILD AWAY

Could you send your only child away,
To another land, another world to stay,
If you knew there would be danger
every step of the way

If you knew that few would listen,
To what you sent Him to say,
Could you send your only child away?

If you knew that they would hate Him,
Right from His very birth;
Could you send Him from His Heaven,
To a cruel and sinful earth?

He left with you his robe of white,
To wear a robe of shame,
And hung upon a wooden cross
Where they even mocked His name.

He left with you His golden crown,
For a crown of hurtful thorns;
Could you watch as He was mocked by men,
Of jealous, hateful scorn?

"Oh King" they cried, "Save yourself,
if you really are Gods son,
I know You must have wept that day,
When You saw what they had done.

Forgive me Lord my part in this,
I cost You Your only Son,
He hung upon a wooden cross,
To save our souls from loss.

Now ask yourself this question,
Ask yourself from deep within,
Would you send your only child away
As God has done, to pay the wage of sin?
