IN HER DREAMS

She loved for years a man,
Who couldn't stay at home;
She watched through tears of sadness,
As he would come and go.

She understood his weakness,
For a different kind of life,
She never regretted a moment,
That she chose to be his wife.

She laid awake alone at night,
His footsteps she longed to hear;
Too many times they didn't come,
As she silently shed her tears.

She was with him as he was dying
They knew the end was near,
She looked at him with eyes of love,
As she had for many years.

Her love for him was deep,
As any love could be,
Death could not part them,
For he meets her in her dreams.

This poem is dedicated to my Grandmother
~Zella Lawrence Smothers~

"Who can find a virtuous woman?
for her price is far above rubies."
Proverbs 31:10

King Soloman in all his great wisdom
knew the beauty and strength
of a faithful womans heart.

I am proud to say my Grandmother was such a woman as this,
her worth far above the price of rubies.
