Back in Time
Times were hard a way back then,
Modern conveniences? They had none.
Days of work began at dawn,
Lasting till the set of the sun.
With Dad out in the fields plowing,
And Mom doing the kitchen chores.
The children helped as age allowed,
All saying daily prayers to the Lord.
Way back then families were closer,
And friends were more devoted too.
And when tragedy hit a family,
Others helped and knew what to do.
The friends and families gathered together
At the church on each Sunday morn
To sing and Praise our dear Lord Savior
And to keep our loving hearts warm.

THE OLD TIME FARMER
The farmer I knew as I grew up
Was not like the one today,
He made his corn with a goose-neck hoe
With a scythe he mowed the hay.
Yet he was happy all day long
And his wife was by his side
They were too busy to be lonely
And in neighbors they did confide.
The fields seemed greener in those days
No pestilances it seemed were there
No poisonous dust was even used
To poison the sweet pure air.
They seemed much happier then than now,
And always seemed so free
Then doors of neighbors were not locked
As now they seem to be.
Oh yes, All people of today
Have conveniences galore
Yet I oftimes wonder if they're happy now
With all these goods in store.
