 5.  Robert Pedigo, III, born 7 Apr 1799 in Henry Co., VA., the son of Robert, 

      Jr & Mary Parsley Pedigo, and grandson of Robert & Mary Elkin Pedigo; 

      died 5 Mar 1873 in Jackson Co., TN., married (1) Susannah King, born 

      24 Nov 1810  in VA., the daughter of Zachariah & Druscilla King; died 

      24 Feb 1861 in Jackson Co., TN., married (2) Rebecca York. Although  

      Robert's father, Robert, Jr., lived in Monroe Co., KY., Robert settled across 

      the border in Jackson Co., TN. (From Mildred Jones)

 

       She has in her possession, a letter written in 1956 by Smith Garfield 

       Pedigo (calls himself Sam). Sam was the son of Zachariah Pedigo 

       (Jack), who was the fifth child of Robert Pedigo, III and Susannah King. 

       Sam then lived in Roswell, NM. His present address is unknown.

 

       In this letter, Sam states that his grandfather (Robert Pedigo, III) was born 

       on a farm located on Leatherwood Creek, near Martinsville, Henry Co., 

       VA., April 7, 1799 and that he and his brother Bill, slipped away from home  

       (as was the  custom) one night while the family was asleep. They walked      

       (there was no hitchhiking then) to North Middle Tenn - Clay Co. now. He 

       must have been in his twenties - single - as he married Susannah King in  

       Tenn. And their first child was born 19 Dec 1830. He never returned to VA.

 

       From this, it would seem that the two Pedigo boys must have preceeded 

       their  father to the Cumberland area. The boys would have been very young.

       In 1817 a Robert Pedigo appeared on the Barren County., KY tax list. He 

       had land on Mill Creek. In 1820 this area became Monroe County, KY. (BB)

     

       Robert and first wife, Susannah had nine children. Their names: Curtis Wood,

      Elizabeth, Lewis Jackson, Calvin King, Zachariah K., Mary, James Daniel,

     John Campbell and William Wade:

Wright Pedigo

   Wright Pedigo, about 70 years, died Sunday at the home of his son, Finas Pedigo near Eulia after a brief illness of pneumonia and complications. He had resided for some time at Scottsville, KY and was brought to his son's home in a very serious condition from which he failed to rally.

   He leaves his wife, Geanie Pedigo, seven sons and one daughter, a sister, 

   Mrs. Sisie Jones of Flippin, KY also survives.

   Burial was made at Eulia Cemetery Monday afternoon at 2:00 p m.

Mrs Mary C. Pedigo

The remains of Mrs. Mary C. Pedigo were brought to the Blankenship Cemetery a few miles N E of Lafayette for burial about noon Tuesday. Funeral services were conducted by Elder W. T. Taylor. She was a member of New Zion Baptist Church and was born and reared in Macon County. Mrs. Pedigo died at 8:00 a m Monday morning at the home of her son, Hershall Pedigo at Old Hickory from cancer of the stomach. She was the widow of James D. Pedigo who died 20 years ago. Mrs. Pedigo was 62 years of age and is survived by three sons, Red Pedigo of near Lafayette, Hershall Pedigo of Old Hickory and Bedford Pedigo of Portland, four daughters, Mrs. Maude Bowman, Mrs. Ottie Day, and Mrs. Bertha Hargis, all of Macon County, Mrs. Lillie Roberts of Mitchellville and a sister, Mrs. Eliza Sampson of Midlothian, TX.
