Dan with trusty pickup in Arizona |
I'd better tell you that my wife is the one who's puttin' this page together. I do the math and mechanical stuff in this family. She does the spelling and the computer stuff. I don't even know how to turn the blasted thing on!
But she wants me to have a page so you folks out there can learn about me.
As you can see in the picture above, I've got a prosthesis for a right hand. I lost my hand in a dynamite explosion back in 1979. It never has bothered me though. I don't consider myself to be handicapped. I get too much done to be thought of as handicapped. I enjoy life too much and haven't got time to go around feelin' sorry for myself. That's all I need to say about that.
I do a lot of cooking 'cause Merrellee's either on the computer or knitting or reading and I really like to cook. I don't clean up very well though, so Merrellee usually does that. I'm glad she's not the gripey type. Ha ha.
About 1990, we decided to stop being ignorant about the Word of God. Even though we'd always considered ourselves to be Christians, we were pretty ignorant Christians. So everyday, before I take off for work, we have Bible Study. Merrellee reads the daily reading from our devotional. We use Kenneth and Gloria Copeland's devotional, "In Pursuit of His Presence." Then I read the scripture that goes with the day's reading. Then we pray. We pray about whatever might be troubling us or for whoever needs help. We always remember to Praise and Thank God for all sorts of things and I have to tell you, our prayers are answered. Sometimes it takes awhile, but we know as long as we stay in the Word, we won't go wrong.
Since Merrellee and I have been married over thirty years and still enjoy being together, you need to know we give Glory to God for that. We believe we're God's gift to each other and we treat each other that way. I try not to be too messy and Merrellee doesn't gripe when she picks up after me. I fix the coffee in the morning and bring her cup to her and she fixes me a soft drink or tea when I come in hot and tired in the afternoon.
We take good care of each other because we honor God that way. When we got married back in 1969, we said our vows not only to each other, but to God. He's the Lord of our lives and He's the Lord of this marriage. He's blessed us with peace and good health and we have a wonderful daughter, son-in-law, granddaughter, and grandson.
Before you leave, I'd like to have you take the words of "The Lord's Prayer" with you. This is how we pray - to Our Father.
