Christians today and throughout the Christian era are blessed with
the promise of healing.
Ex. 15:26
Isaiah spoke of healing in his prophecy of Jesus.
Is. 41:10
When Jesus came, our healing became fact when he was whipped
Is. 53:5
and it continues throughout eternity.
I Pet. 2:24
However, most Christians cannot comprehend the fullness of the promise and therefore, are not able to fully believe the power of that promise.
Luke 4:18
Let me demonstrate a simple way to understand the healing message.
Remember the last time you got a paper cut? Just a simple paper cut -
not a traumatic event, but always annoying. Think of that simple paper
cut as a small test of your faith in healing. Without your belief that
you would be healed, you might have reacted somewhat like this….
"Oh no! Oh no! Someone call 911! I've cut my finger on the edge of
this paper. Everyone always said I was accident prone and this proves
they were right! Please, would you look in the yellow pages for me - I
can't use my hand - and find out if there's a paper cut specialist
listed under medical Practitioners? Oh, the agony! Oh, the pain! I've
been damaged beyond repair. I can never use this hand again."
Praise God, you didn't have to respond that way. Chances are, you
didn't even take the time to wash it. You might have complained once or
twice but as we all know, paper cuts are usually healed the next day so
the annoyance is very mild and usually ignored.
The simple truth is, we all have perfect faith that the paper cut
would heal.
You might argue, "Of course, paper cuts heal. But what about bigger
wounds? What about illness and disease?"
Let me remind you that Jesus took sickness and disease to the cross,
along with many other of the problems we have to face
Is. 53
. They are all classified under the same catagory - things that
need to be healed. Not only did Isaiah speak of the promise to come in
Jesus, but Peter also spoke of that same promise which had been
fulfilled. He told us that "by His stripes, you
were
healed
I Pet. 2:24
."
We need to get the revelation of Healing by reminding ourselves of
this. We're not "GOING TO BE" healed. We don't belive we "MIGHT" get
healed. We don't even believe we'll "PROBABLY" be healed.
It is written, We "WERE" healed. When we feel fine, we
are
healed. When we don't feel fine, we
are
healed. When we look
good, we
are
healed. When we look terrible, we
are
healed.
Here's the promise.
WE CAN'T NOT BE HEALED!
Our bodies
have no choice. We learn from science that every single cell in our
bodies is fully replaced every seven years. When we catch a virus or
some other kind of bug, our body immediately starts to work, producing
fever to cook the virus out, producing sweat to cool the fever. When we
fall down and get a scrape, our white blood cells go to work, clotting
the flow of blood and producing a bandaid, which we call a scab, to
protect the wound while the healing process is taking place. God made
our bodies, therefore He must have designed those processes into us.
You ask, what about cancer? What about heart problems? What about
tumors and ulcers and genetic mutations, and so on? I say, what about
them? Those are things which need to be healed so they must be healing.
I also want to remind you that medical science has a name for
everything
and we are told in the Word that everything that is named must bow
before the name of Jesus
Eph. 1:21
. Jesus is Lord of all. He is Lord of Healing. It's simple. We're
healed!
By the power of the Holy Spirit,
