A New Look at Faith
So many of us are confused about the word, "Faith". When
we're in church or with other Christians, the meaning of the word can
have so much significance in so many different areas.
As I thought about the word faith, I knew that many people use it as
a substitute for the word, "religion," while others use it to denote
belief in God and still others use it to remind themselves of His
promises to us.
We have another way to look at the word "Faith" as I share a look at
it from a different point of view.
He is Faithful
One of the most wonderful revelations
I’ve ever received is the revelation of the Word "Faithful" in the Bible.
I don’t know how many times I’ve read that God is Faithful to us without
getting the full revelation of that word. I know we’re expected to "have
the faith of God" or "The God kind of Faith" as we are told in Matthew
11:23. We need to understand just what God means by Faithful as it is
used
on our behalf.
Much of the time, we understand by the syntax of the phrasing that God
shows he is faithful about fulfilling the promises he has made to us. We
know that we can always trust God to do what He said He would do in His
Word.
The revelation which has brought me such wonder and strength and joy,
however, is knowing that God has Faith in US! No matter how long we take.
No matter how much we mess up. No matter how mad we get at ourselves, He
believes in US! He has faith that we will come to know Him. He has faith
that we will understand Him. He has faith that we will love Him. He has
faith that we will want to be with Him. He has faith that we will do as
He
has told us to do.
Jesus wouldn’t have told us to "have the Faith of God" if God hadn’t
already demonstrated the ability to have that kind of Faith. If we think
about the years and decades and centuries of disobedient, hard-headed,
stiff-necked people and the fact that God deals with each of us
individually, the Faith that He has toward us is awesome.
When Paul told us in Hebrews 11:1 that Faith is the Substance of things
hoped for, He was giving us the creative power of God to draw on.
Whatever
you have hope for, the substance has already been provided for that
"whatever" to come into being.
We are told that Jesus is the author and finisher of our Faith. Jesus
IS the Alpha and the Omega. He is the beginning and the end of that
substance. And He is also the beginning and the end of His Own Faith when
He is filled with Faith toward us.
For those of us who are beginning to experience the results of Faith
substance at work, knowing how it increases and becomes more available
and
accurate with use, we can hardly comprehend the result of the Faith of
God
which has been perfected by an eternity and an unlimited supply of people
like you and me who sometimes want to give up.
We can only Praise and Worship a God who doesn’t know How to give up,
who doesn’t know HOW NOT TO HAVE FAITH! Now if you can stand up under the
Glory of that Belief in us, let’s all get together and show Him that His
Faith is working just as He always believed it would.
By the Leading of the Holy Spirit and to the Glory of God.
