Happy Birthday America

2 Chronicles 7:14
"If my people, which are called by my name,
shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face,
and turn from their wicked ways;
then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sins,
and will heal their land."

Independence Day is the national holiday of the United States of America
commemorating the signing of the Declaration of Independence by the
Continental Congress on July 4, 1776, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Although the signing of the Declaration was not completed until August, the 4th of July has been accepted as the official anniversary of United States Independence.  The first Independence Day celebration took place the following year - July 4 1777.  By the early 1800s the traditions of parades, picnics, and fireworks were established as the way to celebrate America's birthday.

This year, July 4, 2008, we are celebrating the 232th Birthday of America!

The American's Creed

I believe in the United States of America as a Government of the people by the people, for the people, whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed; a democracy in a Republic; a sovereign Nation of many sovereign States; a perfect Union, one and inseparable; established upon those principls of freedom, equality, justice, and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes.

I therefore believe it is my duty to my Country to love it; to support its Constitution; to obey its laws; to respect its flag, and to defend it against all enemies, foreign and domestic.
