Before proposing to Nancy, the handsome actor called her father, Loyal Davis to ask for the young actresses hand in marriage. The Hollywood couple were engaged in January 1952.

They were married on March 4, 1952 at the Little Brown Church in The Valley, North Hollywood, CA. The only witnesses were their good friends, Ardis and William Holden. It was a marriage that would span 52 years.

In October 1952 their daughter, Patricia Ann was born and in May 1958 they had a son, Ronald Prescott.

Their son, Michael and his wife, Colleen, have given the couple two granchildren, Cameron and Ashley.
