America the Beautiful?

America the beautiful, or so you used to be.
Land of the Pilgrim's pride - I hope they never see
Babies piled in dumpsters, abortion on demand.
Sweet land of liberty, your house is on the sand.

People wander aimlessly, poisoned by cocaine.
Choosing to indulge, when God said to abstain.
From sea to shining sea, our country turns away,
From the teaching of God's word, and the need to pray.

Phony TV pastors tell lies about our Rock,
Saying God has spoke to them, while they fleece the flock.
We've voted in a government that's rotten to the core.
Appointing Godless judges, who throw reason out the door.

Too soft to place the killer, in his well deserved tomb.
But brave enough to kill the child, before he leaves the womb.
You think God's not angry, that our land's a moral slum?
How much evil will He watch, before His Kingdom comes?

How are we to face our God, from whom we cannot hide?
What is left for us to do, to stem this evil tide?
We who are called need always to humbly turn and pray.
Teach others to seek His holy face, and leave their evil way.

Then God would hear from heaven, and forgive us of our sin.
He'd heal our sickly land, and those who live within.
But America the beautiful, if you don't, then you shall see.
A sad and holy Father, withdraw His hand from thee.

~ Judge Roy Moore ~

Judge Roy Moore of Alabama;
sued in 1999-2000 by the ACLU
for displaying the 10 commandments
in his courtroom.
The case was dismissed!

***** UPDATE *****
August 2003 - The Supreme Court
ruled that the Ten Commandments must be removed
from the Alabama Courthouse where Judge Moore served.
While Christians prayed on the courthouse steps,
the Ten Commandments were removed!

Look what's happened to America

HOW SAD!

When minister Joe Wright was asked to open the new session of the Kansas Senate, everyone was expecting the usual politically-correct generalities, but what they heard instead was a stirring prayer, passionately calling our country to repentance and righteousness. The response was immediate. A number of legislators walked out during the prayer in protest. In six short weeks, the Central Christian Church had logged more than 5,000 phone calls with only 47 of those calls responding negatively. The church is now receiving international requests for copies of the prayer from India, Africa and Korea. Commentator PAUL HARVEY aired the prayer on The Rest of the Story on the radio and received a larger response to this program than any other he has ever aired !!

The Kansas Senate Prayer

Heavenly Father,
We come before you today to ask Your forgiveness and to seek Your direction and guidance. We know Your Word says, "Woe on those who call evil good," but that's exactly what we have done. We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values. We confess that:

  • We have ridiculed the absolute truth of Your Word and called it pluralism.
  • We have worshipped other gods and called it multiculturalism.
  • We have endorsed perversion and called it an alternative lifestyle.
  • We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery.
  • We have neglected the needy and called it self-preservation.
  • We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare.
  • We have killed our unborn children and called it a choice.
  • We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable.
  • We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self-esteem.
  • We have abused power and called it political savvy.
  • We have coveted our neighbor's possessions and called it ambition.
  • We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression.
  • We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment.

Search us, O God, and know our hearts today; cleanse us from every sin and set us free. Guide and bless these men and women who have been sent to direct us to the center of Your will. I ask it in the name of Your Son, the living Savior, Christ.
Amen

Keepers of The Flame

I have issued forth a summons,
A call across the lands,
For all who would abide with Me
Must begin to wash their hands.

Bring forth the idols you admire
And heap them on a pile.
Search your heart from end to end
For this may take a while.

Bring forth the pleasures of your life,
The sins and folly too.
Toss them on that worthless heap
Of things you say and do.

The works you do in vanity
Must on that rubble be;
Conceived in pride of ownership,
They're performed in mockery.

All these things have stolen time
From what I hold most dear,
The fellowship I long to have
When you are very near.

I will send a holy flame
To consume them with its fire.
Kindled with its glowing touch
And warming love's desire.

My Spirit is the Holy Fire
Kindled deep within your soul,
Burning up the sinful dross
That My grace may make you whole.

No demon horde will ever quench
The flame that I have stirred
If you will guard it in your heart
And hunger for My Word.

Be vigilant in watching
That no other love may steal;
Guard My favor jealously
To never lose your zeal.

Patrol your borders faithfully
And call upon My Name.
For I have placed you where you are
As Keepers of the Flame.

And when an idol strays inside
You must truly strive
To throw it on the burning coals
And keep the flame alive.

After the shootings at Columbine High School in 1999, a father of two of the victims, Darrell Scott, went before a House of Representatives Committee. Here is part of what he said that day:

"I am here today to declare that Columbine was not just a tragedy - it was a spiritual event that should be forcing us to look at where the real blame lies!

Much of that blame lies here in this room. Much of that blame lies behind the pointing fingers of the accusers themselves (those accusing the NRA and gun owners) ...

I wrote a poem just four nights ago that express my feelings best. This was written way before I knew l would be speaking here today.

Your laws ignore our deepest needs
    Your words are empty air
    You've stripped away our heritage
    You've outlawed simple prayer.

    Now gunshots fill our classrooms
    And precious children die
    You seek for answers everywhere
    And ask the question "WHY?"

    You regulate restrictive laws
    Through legislative creed
Add yet you fail to understand
That God is what we need!

Men and women are three part beings. We all consist of body, soul, and spirit. When we refuse to acknowledge a third part of our makeup, we create a void that allows evil, prejudice, and hatred to rush in and wreak havoc.

What has happened to us as a nation? We have refused to honor God and in doing so, we open the doors to hatred and violence.

We do not need more restrictive laws. No amount of gun laws can stop someone who spends months planning this type of massacre. The real villain lies within our OWN hearts.

We do not need more religion. We do not need more gaudy Television evangelists spewing out verbal religious garbage. We do not need more million dollar church buildings built while people with basic needs are being ignored.

We do need a change of heart and an humble acknowledgment that this nation was founded on the principle of simple trust in God."

After the September 11, 2001 attack on America, Billy Graham's daughter, Anne, was being interviewed on the Early Show. She was asked by Jane Clayson, "How could God allow something like this to happen?"

Anne Graham gave an extremely profound and insightful response. She said, "I believe that God is deeply saddened by this, just as we are, but for years we've been telling God to get out of our schools, to get out of our government and to get out of our lives ... and being the gentleman that He is, I believe that He has calmly backed out. How can we expect God to give us His blessing and His protection if we demand that He leave us alone?"

As a Christian, the words penned above by these different men and women have touched my heart. Our country is in moral decay and ruin. It is ONLY through the prayers and actions of Christians, that we can turn this around and make America the great Christian Nation our forefathers began and dreamed of.

  • We CAN change America.
  • We CAN make her a great God-fearing nation once again.
  • We CAN bring back the modesty and morality we were once proud of.

Will you join me and countless others in praying for our leaders, the families of America and do your part in turning America back to Christ?

2 Chronicles 7:14
If my people, which are called by my name,
shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face,
and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven,
and will forgive their sins, and will heal their land.
