The Armor of God

	THE ARMOR OF GOD

	Ephesians 6:12-17 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. *And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.*

	The Word tells us that we are not at war with other people, but our war is against the army of invisible wicked spirits, meaning Satan and his Army of Demons. God has provided armor for our protection. In order to do effective battle, we need to put on our armor daily.


	Let's take a look at the armor God has provided us.

Suit of Armor

Girdle of Truth The Girdle of Truth
As we put on the Girdle of Truth, we need to remind ourselves that we have the TRUTH of God's Word to guide us each day. We must think the truth, speak the truth, and walk in the truth.
This piece of the armor was used to hold the other pieces together. Isn't that what God's Word does for us?

John 8:32
And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

The Breastplate of Righteousness
As we put on the Breastplate of Righteousness we need to remind ourselves that in Christ, we have His RIGHTEOUSNESS. Our conduct and our character should reflect that.
The breastplate protects the vital organs in the chest area from the assults of the enemy.

Phillipians 3:9
And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith.

Roman Sandals The Sandals of The Gospel of Peace
As we put on our Sandals of the Gospel of Peacee, and allow them to take us where the Lord leads us. That could possibly be into pain or conflict, but we need to remember that wherever we go, we need to be the source of PEACE. God wants us to be peacemakers.

Matthew 5:9
Blessed are the peacemakers; for they shall be called the children of God.

The Shield of Faith
It is important to pick up our Shield of Faith by placing our complete and total trust in the Lord daily. With it we are trusting Him to protect us from the fiery darts of our enemy. FAITH is our utter dependence on God, upon His presence and His power. Faith puts God between us and the enemy.

Hebrews 11:1
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Helmet The Helmet of Salvation
The Helmet of Salvation protects our minds, and helps us to think godly thoughts as it protects us from false teaching and reminds us that our SALVATION is of God's Grace alone.
One of enemy's favorite targets is our minds. Thoughts of discouragement, fears, and doubts about God and His Love for us are just some of the fiery arrows he shoots at our minds.

Philippians 4:7
And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding,
shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus

Sword - The Word of God

The Sword of the Spirit
Our Sword is the Bible, God's Holy Word, and is provided us by the Holy SPIRIT. We use it to fight off our enemy. Remember that when Jesus was in the wilderness, He used the sword when fighting satan, saying, "It is written ..." (Matthew 4:4-10).
The sword is the only offensive weapon we have. For this reason, it is important that we memorize Scrpture, so when our enemy comes at us, we can combat him with The Word.

Hebrews 4:12
For the word of God is quick and powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword,
piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirt, and of the joints and marrow,
and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
