The woman at the well.  Rebecca at the well.  Ever notice it's never a MAN at the well?  The women went to the well, EVERYDAY, maybe several times a day, as many times as NEEDED, with their jar on their head (what's up with that anyway) and gathered the water for the family.   It was not a glamorous job, it was probably a thankless job, yet a very important job.   Without water to drink and to make bread - the family dies.  SO, the woman at the well is the life line of the family.

This is the life of a Pastor's Wife.

Pastor's and their families carry a heavy load.  The pastor is a leader to many, including his family, he carries a lot of responsibility and takes a lot of criticism.  Pastor's children are scrutinized by both the church and outside communities and often teased and made fun of by their peers.  Then there's the pastor's wife.   Stuck in the middle of maintaining a normal family and upholding her husband's ministry and raising her children, all the while being closely watched by all.

She carries a life-line of support and love and encouragement to her husband and children and anyone else who needs it, often balancing it all as if it were delicately loaded atop her head.  She does this nearly 24-hours a day.   And who carries water to her when she is too tired to go to the well?

If you can relate to this - or if you don't quite understand your pastor's wife, please read the following pages; just a few insights of mine into being a pastor's wife, and why they sometimes have problems with congregations, and why congregations sometimes have problems with them.  May GOD use them to help the two understand each other just a little bit better.
