Biography

I was born and raised in the home of a loving minister's family. My mother influenced me the most in my singing. She was a music major at Anderson College, where she met my father. She had a beautiful lyric soprano voice and sang in church, leading the worship, choirs and gospel singing groups.

Later, I graduated from the same college as my parents, which is now called Anderson University, In Anderson, Indiana. I majored in art, but it was my voice lessons with Greta Dominic that I enjoyed most. She later taught one of my favorite gospel soloists, Sandi Patti.

Unhappy after three years of teaching high school art, I decided to pursue a singing career. Not knowing where to start, I began singing in night clubs with various bands. While forming a new band, I met a photographer who took promotional photographs for the band. That photo session turned into the turning point of my life. We started dating and married a year later.

Early in the marriage, my husband and I gave our hearts to Jesus and started attending church. We have both been involved in music ministry in the local church with my husband playing drums and me in the choir, worship team, church plays, and as soloist. I home schooled our two sons and, owned and operated a singing telegram business for over 22 years.

In February 2000, I retired from "Nancy's Singing Messages" to minister as a psalmist in concert settings, seminars, and bedside visits to the sick. I took hospice training. In 1999 I completed a recording of narrated healing stories, quoted in it's entirety from the Bible, for the ill and infirm called Healing Words From His Holy Word. It is a one hour recording of me reading healing scriptures while playing my harp in the background.

I have sung in concert and as guest soloist at various churches, synagogues, patriotic events, and functions. Starting out in contemporary gospel style, I have now incorporated a harp and sing spontaneous songs inspired by the Holy Spirit and from the scriptures. I try to be very sensitive to the Holy Spirit and the audience's spiritual needs.

Part of my calling is ministry to the sick. I play my harp, sing, and pray for the sick and terminally ill at the bedside. If you have a loved one you would like me to visit, please contact me.
