Nevermore

Nevermore can we return
To days of forgotten years.
Years that now often bring tears.
As we search we yearn, but for what?

For days when women were Ladies.
Dressed in gowns with glamour.
Days when men were Gentlemen,
Standing noble , oh so proud.

Lads and Lassies played with glee
Never fearing to hide or flee.
Games of spinning the rock on water,
Hide'n Seek can you find me!

Nevermore do we find, basket's
Filled with flowers waiting to be chosen
To grace an elegant table, on a Sunday morn.
Ready for family and friends to gather.

Times when heads of households
Stood in reverence,head bowed
Giving blessing for bountiful meals,
For wheat out in the fields.

Nevermore, can we return
For those days are only memories
Seen in books, or paintings of old.
When poeple never knew they had it all!
