About 62 years ago there was a man
sitting in a cafe late one night.
In the small town of Sweetwater,Texas.
He was at a low sad time in his life.
The girl he loved had said no to his wanting
to spend the rest of his life with her.
She was the love of his life,
she had a little baby girl,
and no one to care for her,but him.
But she had turned him down.
Her baby girls father had left her,
He tried to make her understand
He would never do that to her.
But she was hurt once, and still hurt.
So there he sat all alone!
He put a nickle in the jukebox.
Then punched the old Gene Autry song,
"You Are My SunShine".
As it played, he ask the waitress for a pen.
He took some napkins and started writing
the words to the song down on them.
The story goes it took him almost
all night and a lot of nickels to
get all the words on paper.
But He had an idea!
The next morning he went to the,
Telegraph office, and said sir,
I got a very special telegram to send.
Well it was'nt easy for the telegraph man
to read all the scribbling on those napkins!
but the telegram got sent!
Its just what this sweet lady needed to hear.
They were married very soon after that.
I can tell you for a fact,
This story is true.
I still thank my Dad Wilson to this day
For loving my Mom and I enough to
To send that telegram!
