A
Road Map for Today's World
The Bible is not as mysterious as it might
seem. God has provided us with a road map to guide our lives, if we will
only follow the printed page.
Most people would agree. That if a lost traveler was presented with a road
map indicating the proper way, and he continued to travel in the wrong
direction, this man would be a fool. How often do we not heed the word of
God, our road map to eternal life?
In the following pages you will find such a map. Jesus stated in John 12:48,
“He that rejecteth me, and receveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him:
the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.” If
we are going to be judged by the words of Jesus Christ it would be for our
own good to spend a few minutes to look further.
Many people will say, only believe on the Lord
Jesus Christ and you will be saved. If this was all there was to salvation
the devil would be saved. The Bible in James 2:19 says, “Thou believest that
there is one God: thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.”
What do we believe then? Jesus says in John 7:38, “He that believeth on me,
as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living
water.”
This being true, let’s look further. In Mark 16:16 Jesus says, “He that
believeth and is baptized shall be saved: but he that believeth not shall be
damned.” Here the Bible clearly tells us that after we believe we must be
baptized to receive salvation. Do we now stop here? No let's look a little
further.
In acts 2:38 the Apostle Peter was asked how to escape the punishment we
face for the things we have done, “Now when they heard this, they were
pricked in their heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the Apostles, men
and brethren, what shall we do? Peter’s answer to the question of salvation
is in the 38th verse, “Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized
every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and
ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” Here we see that we not only
must repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, but now the Bible
tells us to receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Is this also necessary ? Yes you guessed it LET’S LOOK A LITTLE FURTHER!
Jesus again instructs us in John 3:5, Jesus
answered, “Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water
and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God “ So here you see
that to live forever with Jesus Christ we MUST repent, be baptized in the
name of Jesus Christ, and be filled with his Spirit.
