An officer parked his paddy wagon and started to run across the street to the Mexican restaurant, but was hit by a passing car. The driver, a 17-year-old male who was later determined to have been drinking and driving without insurance, ran off and then abandoned his car.
I'm not sure what was lying in the street. It was not the officer, since the ambulance had already taken him away. Whatever was there, though, must have been important. One officer guarded it zealously - even through pouring rain.
Several police cars stopped a car outside my house, approaching it with guns drawn. They removed several young men from the car and put them into the police cars.
Although they did a thorough search, they must not have found anything unusual. Eventually, they allowed the young men to go back to their car. Still, I'm happy to see them keeping an eye on suspicious characters. Not long ago, I saw a similar car full of young men driving down a busy thoroughfare, laughing and shooting a pistol at the truck in front of them early on a Saturday afternoon. They could have killed someone!
