I was walking home from school on a cold winter day.
Took a shortcut through the woods and lost my way.
It was getting late and I was scared and alone,
but then a kind old man took my hand and led me home.
Now, Momma could not see him,
oh but he was standing there and I knew in my heart
he was the answer to my prayers.

sent down to us from somewhere up above.
They come to you and me in our darkest hours
to show us how to live,
to teach us how to give,
to guide us with the light of love.
When life held trouble times and had me down on my knees,
there's always been someone come along and comfort me,
a kind word from a stranger to lend a helping hand,
a phonecall from a friend just to say I understand.
Aint it kind of funny at the dark end of the road
that someone lights the way with just a single ray of hope.

They where so many faces,
show up in the strangest places,
to grace us with their mercy in our time of need.

Like the little old lady
who returned your wallet yesterday.
Like the taxi driver who told you that your eyes
light up the world, when you smile.
Like the small child who showed you
the wonder in simple things.
Like the poor man who offered
to share his lunch with you.
Like the rich man who showed you
that it really is all possible, if only you believe.
Like the stranger who just happened to come along,
when you had lost your way.
Like the friend who touched your heart,
when you didn't think you had one.
Angels come in all sizes and shapes,
all ages and skin types.
Some with freckles, some with dimples,
some with wrinkles, some without.
They come disguised as friends, enemies,
teachers, students,
lovers and fools.
They don't take life too seriously,
they travel light.
They leave no forwarding address,
they ask nothing in return.
They are hard to find when your eyes are closed,
but when you choose to see,
they are everywhere you look.
So, open you eyes and count all your Angels --
for you are truly blessed!
For He shall give His angels charge over you,
to keep you in all your ways.
