My name is Becky, I am 35 years old. I have three children ages 16, 12, and 11, that I raised as a single mom for my first ten years as a mom. In 1998 I met my husband, Jeff. We later moved in together and lived as a blended family for three and a half years before finally getting married on April 5, 2003. My step son, whose now 13, came to live with us just before we got married, we now have custody of him. My step daughter, 17 doesn't live with us.
I have a son who is diagnosed with ADHD, and Bipolar as well. My step son has had some serious learning gaps. He also lived with abuse, drugs, violence and neglect for many years before coming to live with us. He was suicidal, and very angry. My daughter has been sexually abused, which led to the whole court proceedings, As a 5 yr old she had to get up and testify. She has been diagnosed with PTSD, Depression and Anxiety Disorder. As a young child I was left by my mother to live with an aunt. This was a tramatic time for me which lead to many anxiety issues. I have experienced the difficulties with being sexually abused, as well as physically abused. I have experienced sexual harrassment on the job. I was in a domestic violence relationship which involved rape and attempted murder. I have been diagnosed with PTSD, Bipolar Disorder, Cognitive Disorder,
and Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder.
I was a licensed In-Home Child Care Provider for three years or so all together. I still care for my sisters three children. One of which has Asperger's disorder, and two with Adhd. In the past I have worked with mentally and developmentally disabled clients in group homes.
Mental Illness and Psychiatric Disorders are very much a part of my life.
The year my husband and I got married, we agreed upon a church to go to, and began attending regularly. Three years later on February 5, 2006, my husband, three of my children, and myself were baptized, and became members and today we are committed to being apart of our church, for ourselves, our children and our church family. God continues to bless us everyday! As a Christian, my purpose is to be obedient to God in everything I do. As a wife, a mom, a sister, a daughter, a church member, a friend, a neighbor, an american, a human being. All I can do is strive for this.
