~*~ Trying too hard?

"He has show you, oh man, what is good.  And what does the Lord require of you?   To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.  Micah 6:8

Evaluate whatever  issues you are struggling with right now  in the light of those words.  What action or decision would add up to meeting those requirements?   Will the course of action you're considering allow you to act justly?  Will one choice be unfair to someone?  No matter what is at stake...your pride, money, the opinions of others, do what is fair and just.   Will you be loving mercy?  Will your words or actions convey mercy and grace, or judgment and condemnation?   Will the words harm more than heal?   Love mercy.  If you're not sure you're acting in mercy,  pray on it awhile longer before you act.    Will the path you take allow you to walk humbly with your God?

Are you motivated by spiritual pride or the desire to control others?  Do you really have the right or authority to do what you have in mind?  Will you be stepping into God's role in someone's life, coming between them and the free will that is theirs by right, straight from their Father (and yours)?  Sometimes, we believe we are being helpful, but we are really imposing our will instead of allowing God to work in the lives of those we love.  This is not humility.  Humility can admit, "I don't have all the answers."   Humility can give God and others a chance to work things out without thinking we have to fix everything for them.
Jesus says, "Come unto me, all ye who are weak and heavy laden, and I will give you rest."

Mt. 11:28
Will you find rest in the course of action your consider?  Do you find rest in the situation your  are clinging to?   Is there rest in avoiding the decision you have to make?  Mentally choose what you believe is right deep in your spirit.  What happens?   Do you find peace in  the thought of that choice?  If not, are the doubts based on what man might say, or on the scripture, or the still small voice that does not condemn us, but guides us into all truth?

I cannot claim to have all the answers for you.   I stumble in so many ways.  But these scriptures have helped me find guidance, rest and peace during tumultuous times.  Knowing I had followed the course of action outlined therein, I had peace in my heart and  could rest in the knowledge that my God knew the truth of the situation, no matter what others said about me.  Humility will allow me to go on, even when I have been slandered and defamed.  Mercy will allow me to forgive those who have harmed me. Humility will allow me to step back and let others lead or decide for themselves.   I do not have to prove I am right.   I don't even have to BE right.   I just have to act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with my God, and He will give me rest.

Love,

Robyn
