FOR YOU GRAMMIE
Flowers I would pick her
she'd place them in a cup
look down at me and smile
with such a loving touch.
Taught me how to tie my shoes,
rocked me in a chair
put band*aids on my boo boos
pigtails in my hair...
for me my Grammie was always there.
Oatmeal cookies she would bake
puddings,pies,fudge,& cakes
the smells in her kitchen
I could hardly wait !
Christmas time was special too
lots of food and family
gathered round the prettiest tree
reached the ceiling far as I could see
one at a time... that was the way
we would pass 'round gifts, good gosh
...nearly took all day !
She loved honeysuckle and roses...
I remember quiet well
very fond of a necklace, made from egg shell
on her nightstand it layed
...for my brother had it made !
She loved to read books ( Harlequin ) of coarse
played cards and games and watched T.V
Lawrencwe Welk was a favorite of hers and me.
The time it passed and I grew fast
so off I went... then a family of my own
and oh how at times I longed to be home !
The years flew by and nature had its way...
and now forever more
... in my heart she'll stay !
