Discipline

If someone were to ask at this moment

what discipline means, our answer

more than likely would be punishment.

That is not what the bible's concept is.

Discipline in the bible means, goal oriented

Seeking to develop a Godly life. So we can

walk in the way God would have us too.

It isn't, as we tend to think, that discipline

is keeping others in line. At the heart of

discipline is decipling, helping other people

to become followers, particularly followers

of Jesus Christ. The emphasis is teaching and

guidance in a loving manner.

Colossians 3:21

Fathers don't aggravate your children. If you

do, they will become discouraged and quit

trying.

Ephesians 6:4

Fathers don't make you children angry by the

way you treat them. Rather, bring them up

with discipline and instruction approved by

the Lord.

God is telling us here that misdirected

discipline will create undesirable behavior.

I am sure we have all met someone

who is full of anger , and in most case

are misfits, and in most cases have given up.

Many times it can be traced back to

how they were disciplined in childhood

and it has caused them to rebel against

everyone, and every thing. Maybe some

of us can relate to this, but I'm here to

tell you there is hope for all of us.

Deuteronomy 8:5

So you should realize that, just as a parent

disciplines a child, the Lord your God

disciplines you to help you.

Hebrews 12:6-8

For the Lord disciplines those he loves,

And he punishes those he accepts as

his children.

As you endure this divine discipline,

remember that God is treating you as

his own children. Who ever heard of a

child who was never disciplined? If God

doesn't discipline you as he does all of

his children, it means that you are

illegitimate and not really his children

after all.

Psalms 94:12

Happy are those whom you discipline Lord,

and those whom you teach from your law.

Proverbs 12:1

To lean, you must love discipline; it is stupid to

hate correction .

We see here that God is telling us, that,

If a parent doesn't discipline his or her child this

Is a Parent who doesn't care. God's discipline is

an act of love , loving discipline is life building,

the right kind of discipline sets us on the right

path, and makes us thankful and full of joy.

We must realize that if God didn't love

us he wouldn't bother, but thank the Lord

he does care.

Proverbs 3:11-12

My children don't ignore it when the Lord

disciplines you.

For the Lord corrects a child in whom he delights.

When we refuse to listen to correction and

Discipline, even when it is in our best interest,

we can't blame God when things go wrong

in our lives.

Titus 3:9-10

Do not get involved in foolish discussions about

spiritual pedigrees or in quarrels and fights

about obedience to jewish laws. These

kinds of things are useless and a waste

of time.

If anyone is causing divisions among

You, give a first and second warning.

After that, have nothing more to do

with that person. For people

like that have turned away from the

truth. They are sinning and they condemn

themselves.

These last to scriptures are dealing with the

role that the church is to play. This is one

thing that is lacking in churches today.

And because of the lack of discipline, it

threatens unity in the church. If we as children

of God will allow the Holy Spirit to guide and

discipline us we will stay in the center of

His will.

Lord let us, as you children remember that

when you correct and discipline us it is

because your love for us know no bounds.

AMEN & AMEN.
