Perseverance

When many of us think of perseverance, what comes to mind is

suffering ,but that is not what it always means. Perseverance has

been defined as "Courage Stretched Out." That put a whole new

perception on the word perseverance. Although God sometimes

delivers his people from difficult or painful circumstances, he more

often calls us to a courageous, and enduring faithfulness in midst

of trials. Perseverance according to the Bible, is not only

enduring situations of suffering but overcoming them

with "obedience," "hope, " and "joy."

That's well and good, but the question for us to ask

ourselves, is how do we get to this point in our lives?

Lets look and see what the Bible says about this.

JOSHUA 6: 1-5

Now the gates were tightly shut, because the people

were afraid of the Israelites. No one was allowed to go

in or out. But the Lord said to Joshua, "I have given you

Jericho, its king, and all its mighty warriors. Your entire

army is to march around the city for six days. Seven priest

will walk ahead of the ark, each carrying a ram's horn.

On the seventh day you are to march around the city seven

times, with the priest blowing the horns. When you hear the

priest give one long blast on the horns, have all the people

give a mighty shout. Then the walls of the city will collapse,

and the people can charge straight into the city."

We see here, that as with Joshua, we have to learn to

perseverance. Joshua was told to do something by God,

that took obedience. Perseverance means obeying

God, even when God's way doesn't seem to make sense

or produce results.

Nehemiah 6: 14-16

Remember, O my God, all the evil things that Tobiah

and Sanballat have done. And remember Noadiah the

prophet and all the prophets like her who have tried

to intimidate me. So the walls were finally finished

fifty-two days after we had begun. When our enemies

and the surrounding nations heard about it, they were

frightened and humiliated. They realized that this

work had been done with the help of our God.

They said it couldn't be done! Does this statement sound

familiar? I am sure it has happen to us, or someone we

have known

at sometime in our life. Then to make sure it didn't get

done they try to intimidate the people involved . The job

was too big, the problem to great, and the opposition

was prepared to make life miserable for the participants.

But Jerusalem walls were rebuilt anyway, in only fifty-two

Days. "PRAISE GOD "

Like Nehemiah and the men and women of God, there

Perseverance paid off by joining together for a special

task, and solved a huge problem, and accomplish a

great goal. If we know what God wants us to do, don't

let the opposition or the size of the task keep us from

accomplishing a great thing for him.

James 5:10-11

For examples of patience in suffering, look at

The prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord.

We give great honor to those who endure under

suffering.

Job is an example of a man who endured

patiently. From his experience we see how the Lord's

plan finally ended in good, for he is full of tenderness

and mercy.

Perseverance in good works doesn't produce salvation.

But perseverance results from our faith in God. "The

Christian Life," begins with faith, but grows through patients

and endurance. When our faith is tested, and our endurance

has a chance to grow. Perseverance causes us to

mature in the Lord, and leads us to Godliness.

"Lord Jesus help us to be faithful to you in every

circumstance, help us to persevere and though

this we will be a blessing to you and others. Lord

let our light shine to those around us, to be obedient

to our calling and never lose our hope and joy in you."

Thank you Lord, your love that know no bounds, Thank you

Lord, that because you were willing to endure the cross.

We as you children can know that nothing is impossible

To those who are in you LORD.

GLORY !!!
