Christlikeness
Christians are followers of Jesus Christ. To
Be a follower of someone is to pattern your life
after him or her. Christ is the ultimate example
of how to live a life that is pleasing to God. If we
pattern our lives after him, we will please God.
Not only will we please God , we will find our-
selves accepted into his eternal kingdom. To be
like Christ is our goal. We want to think his
thoughts, show his attitude, live as he would live
here on earth today. It is an awesome goal, and
since we are not perfect, that goal seems unattainable.
The key is that we are not Christ, but can only
hope to be like him. While we cannot achieve
perfection, Christ himself does promise to give
us the power for living effectively for him.
Romans 8:9
But you are not controlled by your sinful
nurture. You are controlled by the Spirit if
you have the Spirit of God living in you.
'Remember that those who do not have the
Spirit of Christ living in them are not
Christians at all."
We can't possibly live like Christ by ourselves
we can't even hope to live like Christ, for we are
not capable of it. But controlled by the Spirit
of Christ in us, we can!
2nd
Corinthians 3:18All of us had that veil removed so that we
can be mirrors that brightly reflect, the
glory of the Lord. And as the Spirit
works within us, we become more and
more like him and reflect his glory even
more.
As we let Christ control our inner life, he
also controls our outer expressions of that inner
Life. God give us the ability, but it is up to us
as Christians to cultivate the Christ like
Spirit within us.
1st John2:3-6
How can we be sure that we belong to him?
By obeying his commandments. If someone
says,' I belong to God,' but doesn't obey
God's commandments, that person is a liar
and does not live in the truth. But those
who obey God's word really do love him.
That is the way to know whether or not we
live in him. Those who say they live in
God should live their lives as Christ did.
As we see in the above scriptures, if we
claim to be Christians we must be
developing a Christian Spirit. This
then is the test of our faith in Christ.
Are we living as he wants/? Are we
living a Christlike life? If we are,
then we know that Christ lives in us,
and if we aren't then, it behooves us to
go back to the foot of the cross one
more time, or however often it takes.
To me the saddest thing to happen is
to stand, before God on judgment day,
and hear him say, depart from me I
know you not. Dear God, don't let
any of us heard those words.
Dear Lord as Christians please help
to be truly Christlike in our deeds and
actions. Lord Jesus help us to be the salt
of the earth that you said we were to be. Let
us not abuse your Grace in any way Lord.
I ask this for all of us who are your children
Thank you Lord Jesus for your love
and your Grace. Amen and Amen !! "
