" The Peace Of God "
Peace, Peace we are hearing that word on all sides .
People are having peace marches. Sit ins, interviews
regarding peace on television, and not just in America,
but in every corner of the world. This should not be
a surprise to any of us if we are Christians, for the
Bible tell us that in the last day's that there would
be calls of peace heard on all sides. At the heart of
peace is harmony. To be at peace with someone ,
whether a neighbor, a family member, or God
is to be in a harmonious relationship with them.
When we ask Christ to cleanse us of our sins and
makes us new creations ,we are asking for peace,
a new harmonious relationship with our creator.
Psalm 3:5
I lay down and slept. I woke up in safety,
for the Lord was watching over me.
Psalm 4:8
I will lie down in peace and sleep, for you
alone, O Lord, will keep me safe.
Psalm 29:11
The Lord gives his people strength. The
Lord blesses them with peace.
Psalm 32:7
For you are my hiding place; you protect me
from trouble. You surround me with songs
of victory.
Philippians 4:6-7
Don't worry about anything, instead, pray about
everything. Tell God what you need, and thank
him for all he has done. If you do this you will
experience God's peace, which is far more wonderful
than the human mind can understand. His peace
will guard your hearts and minds as you live in
Christ Jesus.
As we see here in the above scripture's as we lay
down to sleep , the Lord is there, He keep us
safe from harm , He gives us strength, He is
our hiding place, He protects us from trouble, and
he surrounds us with songs of victory, Hallelujah!
God is the only true source of peace , if we will not
worry He will guard our hearts, and He promised
us peace that doesn't come from the world , it is God's
peace that passes all understanding.
Psalm 34:14
Turn away from evil and do good. Work
hard at living in peace with others.
Isiah26:3
You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you.
Whose thoughts are fixed on you!
Psalm 37:11
Those who are gentle and lowly will possess
the land, they will live in prosperous security.
Psalm 119:165
Those who love your law have great peace
and do not stumble.
Galations 5:22
When the Holy Spirit controls our lives, he will
produce this kind of fruit in us, love, joy, peace,
patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness.
Roman 2:10-11
There will be glory and honor and peace from God
For all who do good, for the Jews and also the
Gentiles. For God does not show favoritism.
For those of us who have ask how can we get
Peace from God, all we have to do is go to the
Word of God, Here we see that God tells us that,
first if we will turn from our sins to God, and
trust in him to be with us in all (not just some)
of our problems, and if we will keep our thoughts
fixed on Him, if we will keep ourselves humble
before Him, and love His Word, we will
please Him. It is very important that we cultivate
the fruit of the Spirit in our lives, and we have to be
obedient to God, Brothers and Sisters there are no
"Short Cuts" to receiving the peace of God.
Jeremiah 29:7
And work for the peace and propriety of Babylon .
Pray to the Lord for that city where you are held
captive for if Babylon has peace so will you.
Matthew 5:9
God blesses those who are gentle and lowly, for the
Whole earth will belong to them.
Isaiah 43:2
W hen you go through deep water and great
troubles, I will be with you. When you go
through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown!
When we walk through the fire of oppression, you
will not be burned up, the flames will not consume
you.
Some how we can get into our heads that as
a Christian we don't have to work to acquire
peace. But I am here to tell you that
God never said that peace would always be absence
of conflict. God calls us to pursue peace. Peace
involves dealing with conflict appropriately.
2Corinthians 13:11
Dear friends, I close my letter with these
Last words, Rejoice Change your ways.
encourage each other. Live in harmony and
peace. Then the God of love and peace will be
with you.
Ephesians 4:3
Always keep yourselves united in the Holy Spirit,
and bind yourselves together with peace.
Romans 12:17-18
Never pay back evil for evil to anyone. Do
things in such a way that everyone can see you
are honorable. Do your part to live in peace
with everyone, as much as possible.
James 3:17-18
But the wisdom that comes from heaven is
first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle
at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is
full of mercy and good deeds. It shows no
partiality and is always sincere. And those
who are peacemakers will plant seeds of peace
and reap a harvest of goodness.
As these scriptures tell us that even though God
Gives us the formula on how to make peace not
only with others, but also with ourselves. We
first have to want this for ourselves and then,
we have to purpose in our hearts that no matter
what, we will do the things to bring this about.
We have to work hard to rid sin from our own
lives while diligently building others up helps
achieve peace. We have to seek unity that can
only come from the Holy Spirit, when we try in
our human power to bring unity be it family,
friends or world unity we are just spinning
our wheels if the Holy Spirit is not a part
of the process. When we as humans, and not just as
Christians harbor feelings of revenge in our hearts,
we can not be at peace with others, we have to commit
to the good deeds, that is the mark of a peacemaker.
Being a peacemaker is a life long commitment,
Sometimes we as Christian's seem at time to have
as hard a time with making and keeping peace
as mush as the non -Christians do. As we
all are aware ,there are no shot cuts to achieving
peace with others, bur if we don't, the peace that
God promises will never be ours. Because peace
is so important to God it has to be important to
those of us, that are called Christians.
Lord God we come to you now in humble
prayer, asking you to first forgive us for not
totally understanding, that without peace
with in our hearts and with others we
can never receive all that your Word
promises us. Lord help us to be peace-
makers. Lord let us realize that with out
the Holy Spirit in dwelling us we
can't be all you have called us to be, and
to do the work you have for us. Lord let us
determined in our hearts that from this day
forward we will strive to be pleasing in your
sight in all thing. Your Word tell that we
are to be the light of the world and to be
that, we have to be at peace with ourselves
and others. Thank You Lord for your
Love for us, even when we fail to be all we
can be in you Lord. Lord let us be as
your children everything you said we
would be. Amen & Amen .
