Friendship

Friend's are very important to us, for

many different reason. Have you ever

taken the time to count how many

friends you have? How many are just

casual friends, the one's you really don't share

your secrets thoughts with? If your like

most of us we have more acquaintances

than friends that will stand by you

though thick and thin, who never judge you,

who are just there for you. Sometimes friends

are closer than a brother or sister. Friends

share affection, companionship, confidences,

consideration, devotion, hurts and loyalty,

to name a few. Friends are special, we

can trust them. But you and I know the

best friend we have is our Lord Jesus

Christ, his example of friendship is the

role model for all other friendships.

Exodus 33:17

And the Lord replied to Moses." I will

indeed do what you have ask, for you

are my friend."

Psalm25:14

Friendship with the Lord is reserved

for those who fear him. With them he

shares the secrets of his covenant.

God tells us in his word that with him there

Is no favoritism, one is no more important

than another, so if that is the case, if we will

truly seek God and his love, we are his friend

just like Moses was. We can know that

we are God friend, when he share his promises

regarding our lives with us, then we know that

he truly considers us his friend.

Proverbs 17:17

A friend is always loyal, and a brother is

born to help in time of need.

1^stSamuel 18:1

After David had finished talking with

Saul he met Jonathan, the king's son.

There was an immediate bond of love

between them, and they became best

of friends.

Sometimes we find out in times of need that

those we though were friend, were really only

fair weather friend, there for the good times

only, that isn't friends. True friends will

stick to you like glue, will be loyal and

committed no matter the circumstances.

David and Jonathan clicked right away

at there first meeting, as we know it was

Jonathan that helped David to escape

from Saul when he wanted David killed.

That my friends, is a friend, a friend like

that is a gift from God.

1stSamuel 18:8-9

They credited David with ten thousands

and me only with thousands. Next they'll

be making him their king!' So from that

time on Saul kept a jealous eye on David.

Psalm 41:9

Even my best friend. The one I trusted

completely, the one who shared my food,

has turned against me.

2^nd.Samuel 13:11

But as she was feeding him, he grabbed

her and demanded 'come to bed with

me, my darling sister'

We all know that when we have a special

bond with a friend, we have to be very

careful not to do anything to harm that

bond. Jealousy and envy is death to a

friendship, those two forces will cause

angry and bitterness and ultimately break

up what was once a beautiful friendship.

Friendships are broken when boundaries

are violated. When this happen the

relationship can be restored, if we will

ask for forgiveness, if we are the guilty

party, or forgive them even when we aren't.

There must be honor and trust between

friends at all times. As a friend we must

be quick to forgive any slight we may feel

at times, we must we willing to give

the benefit of the doubt ,when rumors or

hurts come our way.

Ephesians 4:32

In stead be kind to each other, tenderhearted,

Forgive one another, just as God though

Christ has forgiven you.

There are times in our life, that we may have

trouble making friends, but as we see in the

above scripture if we will treat people with

kindness and generosity that will draw other

to us. We are told in the Word to even

love those who treat us badly. If we can, and

will do that, we will develop lasting friendships.

We not only have to have friends in this life,

but we also have to be a friend, just as God

Is a friend to us. He will never leave us are

forsake us , he is with us though thick and thin.

Because God is our role model on what it means to

be a friend, we can't in good faith be anything less

than the same to thoughts we call "Friends."

Lord Jesus thank you for being the kind of

friend that we can call on day or night, for

always being there to draw strength from.

Thank you Lord for the true friends we

have in this life. Help us Lord not to

do anything that would harm that

relationship, help us to remember that

we are to love and treat them as you love

and treat us. Lord let us never be jealous

but to be proud and full of joy for them

in time of great accomplishments. In

times of grief and sorrow we can feel there

pain and grieve with them. Lord if we ever

need to know how to be a friend all we have

to do is look to you. Let us never

forget that a friend is a treasure to

never to be taken for granted.
