"What Is Sin?"

We are going to discuss 'Sin' as our lesson

this time, it is a word that in this day and time

is not something we are comfortable talking about

and in some cases even preached about in our

Churches. But God tells us without forgiveness

of sin we will be separated from Him. Have

you noticed that we can talk about crime, rape,

adultery, unwed pregnancies, divorce and on

and on. It seem that instead of judging our-

selves as Christians by God's standards we

seem to get as close to the world as we can

and still call ourselves Christians. When a

doctor find out we have cancer in our body,

and he has to cut it out , we don't get offended

at him like we do if we are told we are sinners

or that we are sinning against God, we know

that disease can destory our lives, but sin!

that is another story. The Bible tells

us God is concerned about sin, not to limit

our freedom and enjoyment of life, but

because sin is a disease of the soul ,that

destroys our lives and leads to spiritual death.

Romans 3:23

For all have sinned: and fell short of

God's glories standard.

Romans 2:14-15

Even when Gentiles, who, do not have

God's written law, instinctively follow

what the law says, they show that in their

hearts they know right from wrong. They

demonstrate that God's law is written

within them, for their own conscience

either accuse them or tell them they are

doing what is right.

Romans 6:12-13

Do not let sin control the way you

live, do not give in to its lustful desires.

Do not let any part of your body become

a tool of wickedness, to be used for

sinning. Instead, give yourselves

completely to God since you have been

given new life. And use your whole

body as a tool to do what is right for

the glory of God.

Ephesians 2;1-4

Once you were dead, doomed forever

because of your many sins. Obeying

Satan, the mighty prince of the power

of the air . He is the spirit at work in

the hearts of those who refuse to obey God.

All of us used to live that way, following

the passions and desires of our evil nature.

We were born with an evil nature, and

we were under God's anger like every

one else.

There seem to be this idea that sin is an

out of date issue, but as we see in these

scriptures, sin is falling short of the

standard of a holy God and his is not

a small thing to go though life sluffing

this off Sin is violating God moral laws.

Sin is a power that seeks to influence, enslave,

and destroy. Sin in it most basic element

is to be obedience to Satan, and let no one

be fooled you are owned lock stock and barrel

by Satin, he is your master, and that in a nut shell

is where sin takes us. We can't serve two masters,

and we must choose who we are going to serve.

Joshua 7:1

But Israel was unfaithful concerning the things

set apart for the Lord. A man named Achan

had stolen some of the things, so the Lord was very

angry with the Israelites. Achan was the son of

Carmi, of the family of Zimri, of the clan of Zerah,

And of the tribe of Judah.

There is no such thing as a 'secret' or "private."

Sin. God tell us in his word that what is

unknown will become known. I'm sure there

has been times in all of our lives, that we have or

at least tried to convince ourselves that a certain

sin was ok as long as no one knew about it, and we

if resolved in our heart to obey God even

when no one is looking. And to our shame

and sorrow we didn't keep our resolve, this will

always happen again and again and other will also

be hurt by this action of sin on our part. But Praise

God, he promises to forgive all our Sin if we will repent

and ask, forgiveness of our sin. But let us not to forget

"Sin always hurt someone."

Ephesians 5;3-9

Let there be no sexual immorality, impurity, or greed

among you. Such sin have no place among God's

people. Obscene stories, foolish talk, coarse jokes, these

are not for you. Instead, let there be thankfulness

to God. You can be sure that no immoral, impure,

or greedy person will inherit the Kingdom of Christ

and of God. For a greedy person is really an idolater

who worships the things of this world. Don't be fooled

by those who try to excuse these sins, for the terrible

angry of God comes upon all who disobey him. Don't

participate in the things these people do. For though your

heart was once full of darkness, now you are full of light

from the Lord, and your behavior should show it. For

this light within you produces only what is good and

right and true.

Colossians 3:8-11

But now it is time to get rid of angry, rage, malicious

behavior, slander, and dirty language. Don't lie to

each other, for you have stripped off your old evil nature

and all its wicked deeds. In its place you have clothes

yourselves with a brand new nature that is continually

being renewed as you learn more and more about Christ,

who created this new nature within you. In this new life,

it doesn't matter if you are a Jew or a Gentile, circumcised

or uncircumcised, barbaric, uncivilized, slave, or free. Christ

is all that matters, and he lives in all of us.

As we all know God gave us the Ten Commandments

as God's absolute moral and ethical standard, I

am here to tell you that God hasn't changed his mind

just because times have changed. I have had Christians

ask if so and so is a sin? My answer is if your not sure

don't do it. Our behavior is to be an example of the light

of Christ that fills our hearts. God calls us to rid our

lives of the impurity, lust, and shameful desires of this

world, yet I hear people saying all the time when

they Sin, "'God will understand I'm only human"

No he won't, and he doesn't understand, we have no

excuse , when the Word Of God tell us how to over come

the desires of the world. He doesn't lay down these

conditions to be a mean and unloveing, but to protect

us as we protect our own children by having rules

they have to obey and live by. So the answer to

the question some may ask what is or isn't sin

go to God's Word and you will find out.

Romans 7:14-25

The law is good then. The trouble is not the

law but with me, because I am sold into slavery,

with sin as my master. I don't understand

myself at all, for I really want to do what

is right, I inevitably do what is wrong, I

love God's with all my heart. But there

is another law at work within me that is at

war with my mind . This law wins the fight

and makes me a slave to the sin that is still

within me. Oh, what a miserable person I am!

Who will free me from this life that is dominated

by sin? Thank God! The answer is in Jesus

Christ our Lord. So you see how it is: in my

mind I really want to obey God's law, but

because of my sinful nature I am a slave to sin.

1John 3-6

Those who sin are opposed to the law of God,

For all the opposes the law of God. And you

Know that Jesus came to take away our sins,

for there is no sin in him. So if we continue

to live in him, we won't sin either. But those

who keep on sinning have never known him or

understood who he is.

Romans 8:1-2

So now there is no condemnation for those who

belong to Christ Jesus. For the power of the

life giving Spirit has freed you thought Christ

Jesus from the power of sin that leads to death.

As we all know that being a Christian does

not mean that we never sin anymore, what it

does means although we will always struggle

with sin, but in Christ we are guaranteed the

victory. Thank you Jesus! When as believers

we find that we have sined, by God grace we

will not be dominated by the practice of sin.

If we will continually yield our lives to the

Control of the Holy Spirit, sin will lose its

Influence over us.

1John 1:8-9

If we say we have no sin, we are only fooling

ourselves and refusing to accept the truth. But if

we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just

to forgive us and to cleanse us from every wrong.

When the Holy Spirit makes us aware of sin in

our life, if we will just confess our sin, this

will bring cleansing of forgiveness to our lives.

At this moment if you are reading this, and

you have any sin in your life won't

you pause at this time, and confess it to

God and receives forgivness/Now for

thoughts who did this you can rest assured

that you are forgiven, the slate is wiped clean.

"God's Promises,"

#1 He forgives all sins no matter how big.

#2 He wants to forget our sin.

#3 He will heal us of our faithlessness

#4 He saves us from the consequences of sin.

#5 He says if we confess our sins, he will

forgive us.

Dear Lord Jesus thank you that you will

forgive us of our sin if we will confess them.

Thank you for Salvation, let us remember

that our Salvation came at a high coast to you

for it was by your Blood, that our sins are covered

no longer to be remembered. Lord let us not

make excuses for our wrong doings. Lord let us

not forget you can not look on sin, so therefore

sin breaks our commutation with you until

we come into a right relationship. Lord

let us be true to our calling to be your sons

and daughters, to be the light house that will

draw the ship wrecked to the harbor of

safety and that is non other than you Lord

the Lamb of God the light of the world.

Amen & Amen
