What Is Love

AH! Love, that's what makes the world go around.

Who can dispute that love is a very powerful

emotion. There is a love that is called," Eros,"

which is the human love, that in most cases is a

physical, emotionally form of love ,that can change

with the wind. Then there is " Agape " which

is the love that comes from God. A healthy

definition of love is crucial to understand

the central message of the Bible. According to

the Bible, love is not confined to sexuality, nor

is it primarily a feeling at all. The Bible teaches

that love is a commitment. As a commitment,

love is not dependent on good feelings, but rather

on a consistent and courageous decision to make

sure that another persons well being is more

important than oneself. As we all know that

is not as easy as it sounds. But with God's

help, it can become a reality, then that

commitment produces good feelings not the, other

way around. Jesus became our perfect example

of God's unconditional love, by laying down his

life for us. God doesn't want us to practice what

I call "sloppy agape" I mean by this is, that

in the name of love we allow our sisters

and brothers to live anyway they want

and we never say anything or warn them,

as we see in the Word of God, God always

confronted sinful actions and lifestyles .Some

how in today's Christian circles, we have

become afraid to bring correction. God help

us. But I have good news if we will ask the

Holy Spirit will guide us in this matter,

and show us what to say and when to say it.

Don't forget we have to be led by the

Holy Spirit.

John 15:13

And here is how to measure it, the greatest love

is shown when people lay down there lives for

There friends.

1st Conrinthians 13:1-13

If I speak in my language in heaven or on earth,

but didn't love others, I would only be marking

meaningless noise like a loud gong or a clanging

cymbal. If I had the gift of faith of prophecy, and

if I knew all the mysteries of the future and knew

everything about everything, but didn't love others,

what good would I be? And if I had the gift of faith

so that I could speak to a mountain and make it move,

without love I be of no good to anybody. If I gave

everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed

my body, I could boast about it, but if I didn't

love others, I would be of no value whatsoever.

Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or

boastful or proud or rude. Love does not demand

it's own way. Love is not irritable, and it keeps no

record of when it has been wronged. It is never glad

about injustice, but rejoices whenever the truth

wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith,

is always hopeful, and endures though every

circumstance. Love will last forever , but prophecy

and speaking in unknown languages and special

knowledge will disappear. Now we know only a little,

and even the gift of prophecy reveals little, But when

the end comes these special gifts disappear. It's like

this, when I was a child, I spoke and thought and

reasoned as a child does. But when I grew up, I put

away childish things. Now we see things imperfectly

as in a poor mirror, but then we will see everything

with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and

incomplete, but then I will know everything completely,

just as God knows me now. There are three things that

will endure, faith, hope, and love, and the greatest of

these is love.

We are reminded in these scriptures that love is

willing to sacrifice what we need and want for

the needs of others, even if it coast us everything,

even if in some cases it may require our life. Now

I don't know any parent, who wouldn't lay down

His life for their children, if it were required of

then. 1st COR. 13, is called the love chapter, where

else in the Bible can you find a more eloquent

description of what love is and isn't. Most of the time

we as humans think of love as, "falling in love." First

of all there is no such thing, as quote, unquote "falling in

love," you fall in a ditch, but love is a decision you make

based on the person you are involved with. Love is not

physical desire of lust. We can all check out, our

understanding of love, if we put in our own name were

the word love. This shows us real fast, that we have to

understand and practice of our love needs to grow. But

thanks be to God, he is there to help us reach that goal.

That is why we never give up, for now we know what

love is.

John 13:34-35

So I now am giving you a new commandment, love

each other, just as I have loved you, you should love

each other. Your love for one another will prove to

the world that you are my deciples.

1st John 2:9

Anyone who says, "I am the light" but rejects

another Christian is still in darkness.

1st Peter 4:8

Most important of all, continue to show deep

love for each other, for love covers a multitude

of sins.

1st John 4:12

No one has ever seen God. But if we love each

other, God lives in us, and his love has been

brought to full expression though us.

As we know, being a Christian has certain

expectations, and that is, that we are loved

and excepted to be loved by others.

In return we have

to love them in also. Our conduct as a

Christian, is proof to the world that we belong

to Christ. How many times, have we met someone

who in the past served God, but because of what

ever reason, they were hurt, because of not being

loved and excepted. I am here to tell you to our shame,

it happens to often in the Christian world. But as

we see in the above scriptures, with out the love of

Christ we are spinning our wheels, and of no use to

the good of the Christian way of life.

Oh, Father God we come to you in the name of Jesus,

Lord first let us not be guilty of the "sloppy agape" kind of

Love, but Lord if we as Christians are guilty of

unloveing Hearts, Lord we ask that you will forgive

us of this sin. Lord fill us with a overflowing love at

this very moment. Lord, let your love and light, so shine

though us, so that we are truly a testimony of your love

and salvation. Let us never forget that you loved us,

when we were lost sinners, and unworthy, Lord help

us to remember that you are not a respector

of persons. And we are not to be also. Lord help us

with your love, to be healer of broken hearts

and spirits. Thank you Lord, for loving us.

You are the Lord OF Lords, and the

King OF Kings. We give you all the

Praise and Glory.

AMEN & AMEN
