Intimacy With God
Intimacy, that isn't a word thrown
around mush anymore and even
less understood. Intimacy is heart
to heart, mind to mind ,soul to soul
this is intimacy . There are three
types of intimacy. There is relational
intimacy, where two people become
soul mates, free to openly share
all there burdens, fears, and joys
with each other. Then there is
physical intimacy, reserved only
for marriage, where a man and
women , through their sexual
relationship, reaches new heights
of vulnerability that should allow
them to communicate at the most
profound level. And finally there
is intimacy with God where we
learn to understand the very
heart of God. As we do this , all
other intimacy takes on new and
even greater meaning. God
created us for intimacy, we are
lonely people longing for
relationship. The risk are worth
the rewards. If we don't develop
an intimacy with God, we are
going to find that all other
relationships don't seem to work.
Again lets go to God's word to
find out how we can make
intimacy work in our life like
God intended.
Psalm 1:2
But they delight in doing
everything the Lord wants.
Day and night they think
about his law.
We see here that God delights to
spend time with us ,spending
time with God is the only thing
that will develop intimacy
with Him.
Psalm 103:11
For his unfailing love toward
those fear him is as great as the
height of the heavens above the
earth.
The book of Psalm describes
how we can have a intimate
relationship with god. I have
found in my walk how little
time is spent with God, yet
we claim to love him, and
in some case there is only a
passing relationship. I'm here
to remind you what we put
in to anything is what we
get out of it.
Hosea 2:16-20
In that coming day, says the
Lord "you will call me my
husband instead of master."
O Israel, I will cause you to
Forget your images of Baal;
even their names will no
longer be spoken.
At that time I
will make a covenant with
all the wild animals and the
birds and the animals that
scurry along the ground so
that they will not harm you. I
will remove all weapons of
war from the land, all swords
and bows, so you can live
unafraid in peace and safety.
I will make you my wife forever
showing you righteousness and
and justice unfailing love and
compassion. I will be faithful to
you and make you mine, and
you will finally,
know me as Lord.
1st.John 3:1
See how very much our heavenly.
Father loves us, for he allows
us to be called his children, and
we really are! But the people
who belong to this world don't
know God, so they don't under-
stand that we are his children.
Matthew 5:8
God blesses those whose hearts
are pure, for they will see God.
When I read this scripture, it
excites me to know that God
who is the alpha and omega
the beginning and the end
reaches out to us, offering an
intimate relationship, as
husband and wife as father
and child a ,commitment
that is forever, a love
relationship, such as we
have never known before.
We must realize that
intimacy involves coming to
God with a clean heart and
pure motives. We can't
bargain with God. We can't
say to God I will if you will
no! God love us so much he
says "I will if you will" My first
act of love was giving my son
to die for you so we could
have a relationship together.
Zephaniah 3:17
For the Lord your God has
arrived to live among you.
He is a mighty savior. He will
rejoice over you with great
gladness. With his love, he
will calm all your fear. He
will exult over you by singing
a happy song."
Can't you just picture it in
your mind, oh how wonderful
the Lord God, Creator of the
Universe, singing songs about
us! What a portrait of a loving
Intimate God.
Matthew 28:20
Teach these new disciples to
obey all the commands.I have
given you.And be sure of this
:I am with you always, even to
the end of the age
The Lord is with us, as close
as we want him to be, as long
as we let him be, until the end
of life. These are vows of
permanent intimacy with us.
It is up to each one of us how
close and intimate we are
with God, being intimate with
God works the same way as
it does in marriage, what
ever we put in to it, is what
we will get out. We can not
ignore God or our mate until
we want or need something
and expect to have intimacy.
God tells us if we seek him
we will find him.
Lord thank you for loving
us so much ,that we can always
know that you are there, that
you will be all thing to us.
Lord there are those who
don't really know how to
be intimate, so Lord I ask
you to teach, and place
the desire in our hearts to
become one with you. Lord
forgive us for not us for
spending time with you, forgive
us Lord that when we do come
to you, that we come many
time without clean hearts,
and pure motives and still
expect to be intimate and
blessed, and yet you are always
there waiting, like a bridegroom
for his bride. Thank you Lord
for you unfailing love.
