Adversity

Adversity is a word that we as humans

don't like to hear after all when we

come to Jesus doesn't that mean that

everything is going to change, no more

troubles, afflictions, sorrow, difficulties.

Disappointments, hurts, suffering, trials

and ect? These are just a few names to

describe adversity. Well guess what? As

we know coming to Jesus doesn't mean any

of those things. One thing it does mean is

that no matter what we go through we have

a loving savior who promised to never leave

us, he will be there in every act of adversity

that comes our way. Sometimes adversity

comes from God himself sometimes as a

punishment for sin, or a simply way to test

our strength, there are time when we have

to use more effort to clear the hurdles that

are put in our way. Other times adversity is

sent by satan to try to get us to sin, and

God allows it, but more times than not

we bring it on ourselves by acting foolishly,

either by not listening to the voice of God or

by out and our sinning. Sometime adversity

comes to us through no fault of our own The.

one sure thing we can count on is that

adversity will come to us, and it is not

a matter of will we or won't we. The

question is what will we do with adversity

when it knocks on our door?

 Deuteronomy 28:20

The Lord himself will send against you

Curses, confusion, and disillusionment

in everything you do, until at last you

are completely destroyed for doing evil

forsaking me.

Jeremiah 21:14

I myself will punish you for your sinfulness,

says the Lord I will light a fire in your

forests that will burn up everything

around you.

Hosea 4:9

Like priest, like people, since the priest

are wicked, the people are wicked too. So

now I will punish both priests and people

for all their wicked deeds.

It is hard for us to believe that a loving

God would actually send adversity into

our lives, but just as we discipline our

children when they do wrong, God may

also bring adversity into our lives by

correcting us when we do wrong. This

is for our benefit, not harm. God also

sometimes brings difficulties into our

lives to strengthen, and prepare us for

what lies ahead for us in our lives.

We may ask, "Does trouble just happen?"

The answer is "yes" sometimes troubles

do "just happen," because we live

in a sinful world, and God usually allows

the cycle run out for the time being. But

because of His unfailing love for us,

He steps in on our behalf.

Lamentations 3:33

For he does not enjoy hurting people

Or causing them sorrow.

Romans 5:8

But God showed his great love for us

by sending Christ to die for us while

we were still sinners.

I have heard even Christians, make

statements that , "if God loved me

why would He allow these thing to

happen to me, He must enjoyed the

trouble that comes into my life?" But as

we read in God's word we see that God's

love for us is pure and intense, He does

not want to see us suffer, but as with our

children, our suffering would be worse if He

did not sometimes correct us.

Exodus 5:4-9

"Who do you think you are," Pharaoh

shouted, "distracting the people from

their task? Get back to work! Look there

are many people here in Egypt, and you

are stopping them from doing their work."

That same day Pharaoh sent this orders

to the slave drivers and foreman he had

set over the people of Israel, "Do not

supply the people with any more straw

for making bricks. Let them get it

themselves! But don't reduce their

production quotas by a single brick.

They obviously don't have enough to

do. If they did they wouldn't be talking

about going into the wilderness to offer

sacrifices to their God. Load them down

with more work. Make them sweat! That

will teach them to listen these liars.

1st.Peter 2:20-22

Of course, you get no credit for the

being patient if you are beaten for

doing wrong. But if you suffer for

right and are patient beneath the

blows, God is pleased with you. This

suffering is all a part of what God has

called you to. Christ, who suffered for

you, is your example. Follow his steps.

He never sinned, and he never deceived

anyone.

As most of us know satan is in no way

our friend, in fact he has one goal

for our lives, and that is to destroy

us. He will stop at nothing to try and

keep us from following God. There are

also people who are opposed to what

is good and right, so guess what happens

when we are living and being faithful

to our commitment to God, you guessed

it, "Adversity"

James 1:2-3

"Dear brothers and sisters, whenever

trouble comes your way, let it be an

opportunity for joy. For when faith is

tested, your endurance has a chance to

grow. So let it grow, for when your

endurance is fully developed, you will

be strong in character and ready for

anything."

2nd Corinthians 4:8

We are pressed on every side by trouble,

but we are not crushed and broken. We

are perplexed, but we don't give up and

quit.

If we try to run away from adversity, how

in the world are we going to stand when

everything seem to close in on us? In

order for a fighter to win a bout, he has

to spar in the ring every day in order to

be ready when the real fight happens. It

is the same with us, like the boxer we will

get bruised, but it builds us up in our faith

so that we know that we won't fall to the

snares of satan and the world. Adversity

also will help us to better understand the

suffering Christ did for us and it should

deepen our relationship with him.

Jonah 2:2

" He said, "I cried out to the Lord in

my great trouble, and he answered

me. I called to you from the world

of the dead, and the Lord, you heard me! "

God is the one who established the

so called hot line, that is always open.

There is never a busy signal, for he is

never to busy to be there for us when

we need Him. We don't have to wait

for the big troubles in our lives to

come to Him, He is always there

for us no matter how small or large

our need is. Isn't it comforting to

know that we can expect adversity

in this walk with the Lord, but Praise

God! He is always there to see us

through.

"Father God we come to you in humble

Adoration. We thank you for your word,

we thank you that even though we are

going to have trials or tribulations in

this world that you promised to be

there in these times. You promised

not to let us slip and fall, you promised

that you would give us a time of rest

if we would give our worry to you.

Father God, help us to be pleasing

to you in times of adversity, keep

us strong in faith, to be pleasing in

your sight. Help us to be filled with

the joy of the Lord and to be a sweet

aroma to your nostrils. I ask this in

Jesus name. "

" Amen & Amen! "
