Promises of God

Promises! we all know about promises, we
have all made them, in most cases we have
made them to often, without counting the
cost. It starts when we are very young, we
make promises to our little friends. As
parents we make promises to our children and
then we break them, without even giving it a
thought in some cases it can't be helped ,but
the damage is done. A promise is a vow, the
most common example of a vow is a marriage
ceremony, we love to go to weddings, the vows
they make to each other is so touching, and they
are intended to be binding, but as we know, as we
look around us and see the divorce rate, it is
brought home to us that human promises seems
to be made to break. There is one whom we
we can depend on, and that is what God promises.
The Bible is filled with promises upon which
we as believers can depend. We know our most
heartfelt promises sometimes falter, the Word
of God is His promise to us, and He will never
fail us. He is a God that cannot lie, so what
the Word of God tells us we can take to the
bank as the saying gone. When there is no
one we can depend upon in life, we can
stake our very lives on the Promises of God.

Galatians 3 21-29
"
Well then, is there a conflict between God'sLaw and God's promises? Absolutely not! If
the law could have given new life, we could
have been made right with God by obeying
it. But the Scriptures have declared that we
are all prisoners of sin, so the only way to
receive God's promise is to believe in Jesus
Christ. Until faith in Christ was shown to us
as the way of becoming right with God, we
were guarded by the law. We kept in protective
custody, so to speak, until we could put faith
in the coming savior. Let me put it another way.
The law was our guardian and teacher to lead
us until Christ came. So now, though faith in
Christ, we are made right with God. But now
that faith in Christ has come, we no longer
need the law as our guardian. So you are all
children of God though faith in Christ Jesus.
And all who have been united with Christ
in baptism have been made like him. There
is no Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male or
female. For you are all Christians, you are
one in Christ Jesus. And now all the promises
God gave to him belongs to you."
As we see here the center of God's promises
has always been the offer of salvation though
faith. There is no other way for us to claim
God's promises if we have not accepted Christ
as our savior, That is more that just believing
in Jesus, there is no other way to be His children
unless we have received Jesus in our hearts by
faith. All humans are God's creation, but we
are only His children if we have received Him
in our hearts.

Ephesians 1:13-14
"And now you also have heard the truth, the
Good News that God saves you. And when
you believe in Christ, he identifies you as
his own by giving you the Holy Spirit, Whom
he promised long ago. The Spirit is God's
guarantee that he will give us everything
he promised and that he has purchased
us to be his own people. This is just one
more reason for us to praise our glorious God. "

John 14:1-6
Don't be troubled. You trust God, now trust
in me. There are many room in my Father's
home, and I am going to prepare a place for
you. If this were not so, I would tell you
plainly. When everything is ready I will
come and get you, so that you will always
be with me where I am. "No we don't know,
Lord," Thomas said "We haven't any idea
where you are going, so how can we know
the way?" Jesus told him, I am the way, the
truth, and the life. No one can come to the
Father except though me.

We can believe God's promises, because He
promised to send us the Holy Spirit and he
did , the Holy Spirit is God's guarantee that
His promises are trustworthy, so when He says
that He is going to prepare a place for us and is
coming back for us, we know that is so because
He said so, and He will be back for us. In fact
that is our hope of glory. God promised that
He would be with us for in the form of the
Holy Spirit.

2nd. Peter3: 8-10
But you must not forget, , dear friend, that
a day is like a thousand years to the Lord
and a thousand years is like a day. The Lord
is really being slow about his promise to return,
as some people think. No, he is being patient
for your sake. He does not want anyone to
perish, so he is giving more time for everyone
to repent. But the day of the Lord will come
as unexpectedly as a thief. Then the heavens
will pass away with a terrible noise, and
everything in them will disappear in fire,
and the earth and everything on it will be
exposed to judgment.

As you can see is the above scripture God,
promises ,that Jesus will and is coming back
to judge the world for its deeds. We don't
know the day or time but it will come,
because that is a promise from Him. Now I
want to say here that I happen to believe
that as reborn again believer we will have
been already caught in the air to meet Jesus
and taken to our home, that is his promised.
The ones that are judged are the ones that
did not accepted Christ as the perfect sacrifice
that God provided for us ,His son Jesus Christ.

Romans 8: 28
And we know that God causes everything to
work together for the good of those who love
the Lord and are called according to his
purpose for them.
Hebrews 6:18
So God has given us both his promise and his
oath. These two thing are unchangeable
because it is impossible for God can't lie.
Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge
can hold onto his promise with confidence.

God promises that if we will look to Him,
and Him alone, He will redeem any and
all the events of our lives for our good He
also promises that He is completely dependable
and trustworthy. I don't know about you my
friends but this is a great comfort to me, not
only does God to redeem the events in our
lives, but He promises assurance for the future.
As far as I am concern you can't get a better
promise that that. Praise the Lord! To me these
promises are something to shout about!!

Numbers 30:1-2
Now Moses summoned the leaders of the tribes
of Israel and told them, "This is what the Lord
has commanded. A man who makes a vow to the
Lord or make under oath must never break it. He
must do exactly what he said he would do.

Matthew 5:33-37
Again, you have heard that the law of Moses says,
Do nor break your vows! You must carry out the
vows you have made to the Lord. But I say to you
don't make any vows ! If you say, 'By heaven!' it
is a scared vow because heaven is God's throne.
And if you say, 'By earth!' it is a scared vow because
The earth is his footstool. And don't swear, 'By
Jerusalem! 'for Jerusalem is the city of the great
King. Don't even swear, 'By my head' for you
can't turn one hair white or black. Just say
a simple, 'yes, I will, 'or 'No, I won't.' Your
word is enough. To strengthen your promise
with a vow shows that something is wrong.
We see here in the above scriptures it is very
Important to keep our promises. Keeping a is
the basic foundation for trust in any relationship.
Jesus tells us that if we are people of our word, we
shouldn't need to strengthen our promises with
a vow. He tell us that if we will keep our promises
we will establish our reputation as a person of
our word.

1st. Samuel 1:11
And she made this vow: "O Lord Almighty, if
You will look down upon my sorrow and answer
My prayer and give me a son, then I will give
Him back to you. He will be yours his entire
life time, and as a sign that he has been
dedicated to the Lord, his hair will never be cut.

Proverbs 20:25
It is dangerous to make a rash promise to
God before counting the cost.

Genesis12 :1-7
Then the Lord told Abram, "leave your country,
your relatives, and your father's house, and go to
the land that I will show you. I will cause you to
become the father of a great nation. I will bless
you and make you famous, and I will make you
a blessing to others. I will bless those who bless
you and curse those who curse you. All the families
of the earth will be blessed through you. So Abram
departed as the Lord had instructed him, and Lot
went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old
when he left Haran. He took his wife, Sarai, his
nephew Lot, and all his wealth, his livestock and all
the people who had joined his household at Haran,
and finally arrived in canaan. Traveling though
Canaan, they came to a place near Shechem and
set up camp beside the oak at Moreh. At that time,
the area was inhabited by Canaanites. Then the
appeared to Abram and said, "I am going to give
this land to your offspring ." And Abram built an
altar there to commemorate the Lord's visit.

God expects us to keep our promises, to Him and
others. In this day and time , people do
not keep there promises, there was a time when
a mans word was his bond, there was no need of
contracts , because a promise was all that was
needed. Not like it is today when the courts are
filled with Law suits brought on by broken
promises, and We as a people are going to
pay and are paying in some measure. But the
one thing we can always count on is the
promises that God's word promises us. God
expects us to respond in faith to his promises.
In closing this lesson I want to encourage us to
search our hearts and see where we each stand, is
our promises to be trusted? Do we really by faith
trust God's promises to us? No one can answer for
us, only we can answer for ourselves..

Lord I thank you that we can stand on your promises
to us. Lord , thank you for your Word, thank you
that your Word tell us that you always keep
your promises. Lord thank you for your love for
for us, help us be a people that keeps our promises
to others ,but more importantly. that we keep our
promises to you. You Lord are our teacher and
our example, our motivater our savior our
salvation. With out you Lord we have no hope,
but in you hope knows no bounds. Lord when
we became reborn again we made a promise to
follow you all the day's of our lives. Help us to
never ,never turn our backs on that promise. In
Jesus name I ask this with a grateful heart .
Amen & Amen.
