"Setting Our Priorities"
If there was ever a time in our lives
that we know and set the priorities
for our lives it is now. We can no
longer drift thought life and let it
take us where ever it goes. We have to
know in our hearts what is important
and not be turned a side. For instance
If we are on the phone or watching
Television and our child wants to be
tucked into bed or wants you to read
him/her a bedtime Story, I summit to
you that how we respond will tell
us were our priorities lay. In this
fast pace life we lead today we can't
seem to distinguish true priorities from
the apparent priorities, but I have Good
News the Bible offers us some answers.

1Samuel 14:35
And Saul built an alter to the Lord,
The first he had ever built.

Can't you see Saul in us in this
scripture? Don't we like Saul confuse
what's urgent? Saul finally got
around to building an alter to God
months and possibly years after he was
first anointed king. The urgent had
taken him away from what was really
important. We like Saul forget that
God is to be the upper most important
priority in our daily life, not just
when everything is coming down on
us, and our backs are backed up
against the wall.

Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart;
Do not depend on your own under-
standing . Seek his will in all you do,
and he will direct your paths.

Mark 10:31
But many who seem to be important
now will be least important then, and
those who are considered least here
will be the greatest then.

We see here that the Word is telling
Us, that if we will seek God he
will direct our paths, So we can
know that our #1 priority is to be
God If we fail to put Him first,
we will all ways put ourselves,
our wants and need before God
and others and we will go through life
not knowing what's really important.

Deuteronomy 10:12-13
And now, Israel what does the Lord
your God require of you? He requires
you to fear him, to live according
to his will, to love, and worship him
with all your heart and soul, and
to obey the Lord's commands and
laws that I am giving you today for
your own good.

Joshua 24:15
But if you are unwilling to serve
the Lord , then choose today whom
you will serve. Would you prefer the
gods your ancestors served beyond the
Euphrates? Or will it be the gods of
the Amorites in whose land you now
live? But as for me and my family we
will serve the Lord .

Jeremiah 35-15
I have sent you prophet after prophet
to tell you to turn from your wicked
ways and stop worshiping others gods,
so that you might live in peace here
in the land I gave to you and your
ancestors. But you would not listen
to me or obey.

There is no greater priority in life
Than loving and obeying God with
all our hearts, nothing will affect
our eternal future so significantly
as seeking after God's wisdom in
discerning and setting right priorities.
how well life goes foe us has a lot to
do with were we focus our attention.

Matthew 6:33
And he will give you all your needs
from day to day if you live for him
and make the kingdom of God your
Primary concern.

As we see here, we can't afford to go
though life without knowing and setting
our priorities. Setting them is the easy
part, after we set them we have to let
nothing turn us away from keeping
them. That means we do what God wants
us to do first ,then we putt others needs
before our need, is it all ways easy NO!
but this is the only way life we will ever
have it's fullest meaning.

Judges 17:6
In those days Israel had no king,
so the people did whatever seemed
right in their own eyes.

When we fail to set priorities in our
lives, and keep them we are like the
people was in the day of judges, we
loss our sense of priorities. When this
happens we allow urgency or personal
desires run our lives. This I believe is
what wrong with our lives today, even
sad to say in the Christian world either we
forgot or never knew how to set priorities.
We have become a me, me ,me generation.
If we don't get back to basics and focus on
God's will for our lives, circumstances
and how we feel will all ways come
before anyone else. As I close this
out ,my hope is that we will determine in
our hearts to seek God and set our priorities.

Lord Jesus for your Word, thank for
Your promises, thank you that you
don't just tell us what we have to do,
but you are there for us to call upon
when we need help. Your Word tells
us to seek and we shall find, ask and
it shall be given. Lord I ask that you
Help each one of us that has read this
lesson will better understand how and
why we are to set priorities in our lives.
Help us Lord to serve others need before
Our own, that nothing we are doing
Is as important that as the needs of our
loved one, our friends and neighbors.
I ask this in the precious name of Jesus.
Amen & Amen
